Current World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight Leonard Garcia was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking ring, according to a report by KCBD in Lubbock, Tex.

Garcia was arrested for his alleged connection with the cocaine ring.

When contacted for comment, Garcia’s manager, Sven Bean said, “It was a shock to me. It definitely came out of left field. I’ve talked with his family and I’ve had one phone conversation with his lawyer. We’re just letting him do his job at this point. Hopefully, we’ll know more as the days progress.”

According to the report, authorities arrested a total of 13 suspects after a four-year investigation into the drug ring that allegedly ran from El Paso to Hub City.

The report specifically named Garcia, identifying him as a mixed martial artist and Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran. None of the other suspects were identified in the report.

If convicted, three of the suspects could face up to 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine, while the others arrested could face life in prison and up to a $4 million dollar fine.

Wow!!! This is disappointing news, I hope he finds himself a good lawyer or he is up shit-creek. He is probably screwed no matter what....This sucks. If the charges are true, I'm disappointed in him. I hope he turns out to be innocent.

WTF??? You'd think an athlete of his caliber and standing would be beyond this kind of shit....absolutely disappointing! I don't think I can support him any longer, I will wait for the trial or whatever, but he shouldn't even be a suspect! This is not what MMA needs!!!

It was a 4 year investigation.

It could've been one phone conversation 4 years ago that turned into the charges that are just now known.

It's not like him being arrested means he had anything to do with it recently.

Look at Jamal Lewis.

this is too bad because i think he could have truly been champ at 145 in the WEC

hope hes innocent but if hes not thats his own fault, ya gotta be careful if your in that business, if he is guilty hopefully its not blow or H and its something lesser like weed, a good lawyer can get you off of alot and if its small time shit and small amounts then he'll probably get a fine and probation tops depending which state he was caught in

Wow he had so much going for him. You know he was on his way to the featherweight title. He has so much potential. Way to blow it i'm so disappointed in him, that's crazy. I hope it's a mistake.

The way they phrase that article makes it sound a sure thing, but may i just step back from thinking the Texan police are 100% on the ball and correct in all the arrests they make, i know they suck in AK! (wm3), like Kpro said it could be a very loose connection to someone involved, that many suspects surely often gets whittled down!

Lets just hope he is innocent cos he is an exciting fighter who could be great at 145. Nobody should think he has had anything to do with it since he has made it in MMA cos its a 4 year investigation
