Representatives of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. have confirmed that they are actively engaging in talks for a future boxing match. Link: http://mmajunkie.com/news/3991/report-silva-jones-in-ongoing-negotiations-for-boxing-match.mma

This is not good.....If Anderson get KO'd it's going to look really really bad for the sport. Boxing can't win anything from this either if Roy loses it just puts them on the fast track to extinction.

This would be great for silva, IMO in this fight alone he would make more than he has his Whole MMA career.

Ya it might be good moneywise for Silva but I cant see anything else other than Roy Jones knocking him out if they fight

I don't see this ever happening, at least not as long as Anderson is under contract with the UFC. This would violate his "non-compete" clause of his contract, so he would have to have Dana's approval before even scheduling the fight. The only way I see Dana allowing this fight to take place is if it happens in the octagon, and I sincerely doubt Roy Jones would be silly enough to step into the cage when Silva has all of his tools available for use.

I think this fights worse for jones than silva. If he looses, he just lost to a guy with hardly any boxing experience and an unkown the boxing world. If he wins, so what? he beat an mma fighter, no boxing fans are going to respect that.
If silva wins though, everybody will be raving about how mma is better than boxing and how amazing it is he can just step into a differant sport and beat one of its pioneers. If he looses, as long as he puts up a good fight, everybodys just gona give him alot of respect and write the loss off, becouse at the end of the day hes not a boxer.
This post might not really encompass what im trying to say, i couldnt really think of how to put it, but i think you get what i mean.

This fight will never happen because Dana White wont let it... This is just boxing trying to find a way to get MMA fans back into watching both sports again.

even if silva has a decent showing, it's good for MMA. any exposure is good exposure

The only reason why I would be remotely against it, is because a boxing match would put off Silva's next title defense for at least a few months. On the other hand, there are no decent contenders on the horizon for Silva to fight. Why not have him box?? Who cares if some boxing fans start talking crap if he loses, everybody knows its a different sport. This fight would be fun to watch, and a good way for Silva to make some extra $$$.

MMA in my opinion is past the need of exposure....we're talkin Roy Jones Jr. here....Anderson is my guy but he has no chance in a BOXING match with Jones.
