That was the classic Japanese three finger budokai shoulder sleeper. Feared by many as the most lethal of ancient Japanese karate. It is the Mandibal Claw for shoulders lol

I believe we call that assault in the First Degree. That ref was way out of line. His job is to keep the participants safe and be unbiased. What he was doing kicking him in the face and stomping on his head is beyond me.

I guess we know who wasn't gelling.

This is my understanding of it. During a tournament, Karate "Master" Isao Nakamura's younger brother was losing. His solution was to attack the other student from behind, kicking him in the face and then crushing his skull. Shameful. So the fighter in white was the ref's brother and he was angry that his brother was losing so he attacked the other fighter. I think it is crazy and uncalled for. Oh, and for anyone who didn't know the kid he attacked was 17...

believe it or not a few people on different forums thought that guy got what he deserved for chasing after the other guy even tho the guy in white was to blame, its more of a sarcastic title, somebody sure as hell needs to give that ref a swift and brutal wake up call, somebody just posted that the guy was 17 and that the guy in white was the refs bro and was biased, so he might have gotten inprisionment or retaliation as best.

Refs in that kind of fight are allowed to regain control of the fight/stop a violation by intervening. He did cal for a stop of the action and the blue guy didnt listen. Although i agree with the ref he didnt have to stomp the guy after he soccer kicked him in the head Ive seen a ref take a guy out at the knee for a intentional punch to the other fighters neck
