KJ Noons has refused a rematch with Nick Diaz. Noons won the EliteXC title after defeating Diaz by doctor's stoppage due to a cut. Diaz subsequently went in for plastic surgery after a specialist determined that the sharpness of the bones above his eyes would lead to more cuts and make it impossible for him to pursue a successful MMA career. The surgery was a complete success.
EliteXC suggested a rematch just as the UFC had when Vitor Belfort defeated Randy Couture for their title due to a cut, however KJ and his camp have now responded that they do not want anything to do with a rematch. Diaz will still be fighting at the event against another EliteXC fighter, most likely Muhsin Corbbrey (6-2).

While I am normally against rematches; cut stoppage rematches I am always for 100%.
If this is who Elite XC wanted to have as Noon's next fight, to solidify his title, he is bitching out by ducking Diaz.
If it had been a TKO/Sub/Decision I would not feel this way, but most fans, and Nick Diaz, as well as Elite XC wanted the rematch to happen and Noons said no.

weak sauce. noons should have taken this fight. i bet nick is gonna get a head of steam and come stomp him when he gets another shot.
the water is starting to get a little deeper in this 160 pound division though. it looks like elitexc went out and found a bunch of young fighters with hands: noons, daley, alvarez and berto. along with diaz and yves edwards who both like to throw, this could be a really exciting division. including the fact that they will co-promote with other orgs we could hopefully see sakurai or gomi in the mix as well. it would be cool to see them send someone to be a rep in the DREAMS lightweight grand prix also.

I dunno I thought Noons was beating him pretty bad that whole fight, I think Diaz should win one before he gets a shot at Noons again.

agreed, noons was puttin it on diaz, but i think that nick wins a fight with noons on most nights. i imagine they have to give someone like edwards a shot and i think noons relinquishes the belt with the quickness.
diaz edwards would be badical.

I guess I'd have to agree that Yves deserves it before Diaz; which is unfortunate because I don't see Noons beating Yves either so we won't get the rematch.

Man this makes noons look scared weather he is or isn't thats how it looks. If your offered a fight and your the champ you take it. You don't pick and chose your fights thats one reason boxing is so messed up (there are many reason boxing is messed up but thats one of them). Fight avoidance is one of the worst things a MMA fighter can do for their image and their career. Other fighters will call them scared and orgs wont want them because they wont take the fights they want them to.

I agree on many levels, but I also do agree that noons was tooling Diaz. Diaz was doing some of the worst shots I've ever seen in MMA. He telegraphed them from the pre-fight hype interview!! They were just awful looking. TBH I really don't know if he was gonna be able to take Noons, as sad as that sounds.

granted noons did serve diaz a pretty good ass whooping
I still think diaz would beat noons in a rematch and that is why noons will not do this rematch yet. Gary Shaw probably would not let this rematch happen anyhow. He spent a lot of money kj noons and he knows a win over nick diaz sure helps boost a fighters popularity. Im sure he tries to milk noons for whatever he can get off him

I think ppl exaggerate how one sided the fight was. It was only one round and Diaz took a couple of bad shots and got cut up. Diaz is known for being a bit of a slow starter plus he's a tough bastard who can take a beating. A rematch is definitely in order.

completely agree, hes like the nog of the LW division. If he hadnt of cut i dont think Noons would have stopped him. And with 4 rounds to go i do think Diaz eventually would have gotten him down and subbed him.
...But yeah, Noons is pulling a punk move. I don't respect the guy anymore. BOO!!!!

See, THIS is why Dana WHite is doing a better job than Gary Shaw...Gary Shaw gives Noons the Option for the Rematch. If a UFC championship fight was stopped for a cut and The winner didn't wanna accept the fight, Dana would have said "F*** you, your fighting the rematch"...And everyone would see the fight we SHOULD see instead of giving A fighter the choice to decline a fight by a stoppage like a cut.
Kinda went on a tangent their. haha, oh well
