Japan & Brazil first became intertwined in martial arts in 1917, when Mitsuyo Maeda started teaching Kodokan judo to Carlos & Helio Gracie. As the folding of PRIDE has revealed, it unknowingly began what has become the well-publicized falling apart of two of the greatest MMA fight camps in history, Brazillian Top Team (BTT) and Chute Boxe.

That sure was interesting, I had no idea it had worked out that way. Seems kinda shady too (especially in the Rua brothers case).

did the Rua's open 2 gyms? I thought they were now in Mass.
