ProElite.com (SamCaplan.ProElite.com) has confirmed through Strikeforce Vice President Mike Afromowitz that BodogFIGHT lightweight competitor Jorge Masvidal is under consideration to receive a shot at the promotion’s lightweight title currently held by Gilbert Melendez on March 29 in San Jose at the HP Pavilion.
I have been hearing rumors that this fight is taking place on the March 29th card for the last few days, and now that this is announced I am fairly certain it will.

That's a great fight, I think Melendez should win this one though. He will be hungry after his first loss. If Mavidal can keep it standing he has a great chance though, but as soon as it hits the ground I think Melendez will overpower and control him.

Melendez defiantely has the advantage in wrestling and control.....and if he gets it down and keeps it there...he should ge ta TKO or decision victory....but I have notcied Melendez has a tendency to eat punches in his fights while going for takedowns....with Masvidals speed and hand power...Gil may think he's gonna eat a shot (while moving in) and take 4......and it may not take many before he's dropped..
I dont know who to pick in this one...
probably Melendez by round 3 TKO... but I wanna pick Jorge by round 2 KO

if gilbert fights like he has the past two fights then masvidal might make a huge jump in the ranks after beating him
i like masvidal, great strikes and even though he is a little thug i really think he will make a huge impact at 155
