Bobby Lashley is the latest pro wrestler to join the world of MMA. Scrubsports.com is again the 1st to break this news. If you remember they were the 1st to break the news of the WCO show being cancelled. Lashley hasn't appeared on WWE camera's for months now and should've been back a long time ago. Fans wondered what happened to him and just today, I received word that he is done with the WWE and has been training MMA in hopes of landing a contract somewhere. God help us all!

I watch the wrestling and was well impressed by this guy. He's an impressive specimen, not unlike Brock Lesnar in his size and strength combined with speed and explosiveness.

If I recall he was also an amatuer wrestling champ in the armed forces. Even if that's US only that's probabaly still pretty prestigeous.

I'd be interested to see how long it is before we see him debut.

Brock has apparenlty been training MMA for a couple of years now and I guess he feels he's ready to compete.

After Mir makes an example out of Lesnar these pro wrestlers will learn you can't use steel chairs in MMA. Sure this guys a physical speciemen but he has no technique, skill, or attributes in the world of MMA.

Well, if you don't like the negative attention MMA gets with these WWE crossovers, then that's fine...but to say that being a national amateur wrestling champion has no merit is naive.

i believe lashley will be more successful in MMA than Lesnar. Dont ask me why but i do.

Could u imagine if they fought. theyd be like "ok im gonna slam you, then we scramble, i throw u into the cage and land some elbows and well go from there"

Lashley would be a great add for MMA. However, I'm beginning to think that pro wrestlers are beginning to think that MMA is something they can do after pro wrestling and that it'll be easy. On that note, they have another thing coming. Still, I would love to see Lashley join Lesnar in the thin heavyweight division in the UFC eventually. And keep in mind that MMA promoters are primarily USING these already famous wrestlers to promote the sport and gain new fans and only secondarily using them because they have any hint of promise.

I think these WWE guys joining MMA because they have a wrestling background are going to be in trouble when they go up against a really great striker with a good sprawl like Cro Cop, or a really good jiu jitsu specialist. It will be a rude awakening if they rely too heavily on their wrestling ability.

On a side note, has anyone ever thought Lashley looks a bit like Wayne Brady on roids? I kind of see a resemblance personally.

I think I know one of the reasons MMA is looking more appealing to these wrestlers right now. In most of the interviews with pro wrestlers that I've seen, the main point that drives them away from wrestling is the schedule. They are constantly on the road away from their family most nights of the week. Whenever they do get a break, its usually for a day or two. Its not just the shows on T.V. that they perform, its also the house shows 4 or 5 times a week. I really think that the opportunity to be home around their families and train and still lead a semi normal life is much more appealing than making more money with wrestling.

Good point. Another point would be the amount of money that they could make. It would almost be an easier nights (depending on what happens) pay then jumping off a ladder head first into a wooden table.

I am skeptical but we'll just have to see what he can add to his amateur wrestling skills. Gotta give the guy a chance.

Wow. No technique or skill...

The guy freaking won THREE Collegiate National Championships.

And placed fourth his first year.

Are you kidding?

Wrestling bashing is out of hand. If you guys had any clue what it took to do what they do, you may have some respect...

He wrestled at 177 pounds (or somewhere in the 170's) in College. You dont get growth spurts of 80 pounds in your twenties... He has juiced, most at that level of pro wrestling have, unfortunately...

Uh, Brock was caught with steroids, although they were very low grade, and also admitted to "doing some very stupid stuff when he first started", when the question was about steroids. That's all but admitting it.
