With win, would become second man to win titles in two UFC weight classes

If you were to visit any mixed martial arts event anywhere around the world and poll the fighters on who was the most gifted fighter in the sport, B.J. Penn would be likely to finish at or near the top.

The UFC lightweight has all the tools for superstardom. He's a phenom in jiu-jitsu; his standup is slick; his takedown defense is world-class; he's charismatic. Tales of his prowess have been spun over the years in building him up to near-mythical status. MMA fighters hold him in awe, amazed by a skill level that is unmatched when focused, understanding that his best is at another level. It is a phenomenon that FIGHT! Magazine writer and author Sam Sheridan calls, "the BJ factor."

I don't think that there is a fighter right now at 155 pounds that can beat BJ Penn. Not Stevenson, not Sherk, not Gomi, not JZ. Nobody. Penn is the most talented fighter in the world.

His only downside has been his lack of focus. That leads to a lack of cardio training and Penn getting gassed in some of his biggest fights. But Penn is focused now on his legacy and I don't think he'll lose again for a long time.

I do...I think Stevenson is going to do what all great wrestlers do to him, frustate him and gas him out! I got Joe TKO in the beginning of the 4th!!!

I don't see Stevenson frustrating him, as he doesn't have the same wrestling talent that gives Penn fits...in fact, BJ's Boxing and JJ is much better than Stevenson's as well. If BJ has a weakness, it is his cardio...but it shouldn't be a large issue when he's required to make LW. It's also interesting to note that Stevenson has struggled even worse than Penn in the past with conditioning...Luke Cummo made Joe Daddy work for his bread.

I just have a feeling this fight will go long which gives the advantage to Daddy, i just give BJ no chance to finish Joe with strikes, and only a slight chance of getting a sub

Daddy by UD is the most likely outcome IMLO (latest! lol)

I think Joe Daddy can win but it really depends on how both of them train. If BJ is indeed looking past him, then Stevenson will obviously be to more focused fighter. It's all about whether or not Penn is focused and ready to go the distance because Joe is no slouch and it won't be an easy fight for BJ.

I noticed a flaw in the MMAPlayground engine, there was no choice to pick BJ Penn via Domination.

Penn is hands down the most skilled fighter IMO.

Watch him fight Pelligrino, or Mishima, or Yves Edwards and you'll see how. I think it's his bread and butter....he has an outstanding guillotine choke and decent GNP too.

silver bullet is right ... so stevenson is a better wrestler then matt hughes ? ... matt hughes couldnt take down bj ... sigh people are naive ... on saturday penn takes step 1 to being a mma legend along side couture liddell hughes vanderlia silva and tito ... then he beats sherk ... then he goes up in weight and fights hughes hopefully so he can shut up people who think hughes can win and yea stevenson is tuff imma fan but he's not on bj's level
