The UFC will likely return to England for an March 8 event in London, and one potential slugfest is already in the works.
A source close to Houston Alexander (8-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that the UFC light heavyweight has accepted a fight with James Irvin (13-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) and is simply awaiting word on whether Irvin’s camp will green-light the bout.

This is going to be a standup battle for sure unless Irvin shoots in or takes Houston down from the clinch. Houston is too strong for Irvin. I see Houston coming back with a vengeance after his loss to Silva and demolishing Irvin in the first round.

The same James Irvin who received an illegal knee to the head when he was on the ground at UFC 79 ?
Well, i think it can be a good fight for Houston to go back on track.

i think irvin has better stand up than houston, and also has a better chin, as long as irvin doesnt get caight with a knee, i think he will win this fight by KO, and even in the clinch i dont think irvin will be in too much trouble.....should be a great fight, with both fighters sluggin it out, bu houston might come out tentative, since he wont want to loose to straight

Chaulk this up as another loss for Houston. Unless of course Irvin suffers another freak accident....but should be a good fight.

Irvin's going to get fudged up!
Luis had Irvin until that knee. Irvin don't have a great ground game so he won't be taking Houston to the mat and i actually think Houston's might be better!
Bottomline he's going to try and stand with Houston and Houston is going to launch into fudgin' space like he did to Jardines head.
Houston is back!!!

This will be a great fight. I have to give Houston the edge on the feet as far as power goes. Anyway someone is getting their head knocked off or it will end up with to guys gassed and bloody.

really? i gotta disagree i think this is going to be an easy win for houston, irvin has not impressed me at all in any of his fights. he was getting tooled by terry martin before the flying knee, he was getting tooled by hector ramirez for a while he was getting tooled by cane and he got tooled by bonnar. the fights that he won he was able to withstand a lot of punishment which he definately deserves credit for, but hector ramirez and terry martin don't have the power that houston has. i see irvin going down in two minutes, another highlight reel w for houston.

I dont think James can win standing, so he needs to follow what Thiago did.

Houston is way to strong for Irvin to win this fight.
I can't believe the number of you who are actually going with Irvin. James doesn't have half the ground game Thiago Silva used to win his fight against Houston. That is the only way Alexander can lose a fight.
