I have a hypothesis about why some of these Pride guys are coming into the UFC and not doing so well.
One of the first things that I noticed when I started to watch the Pride fights was that the fans are unbelievably quiet. I've actually heard a guy cough before while watching a Pride fight. The UFC fans, however, are unbelievably loud.
Wouldn't it make sense that coming from a place where the fans are quiet to a place where the fans are loud would be somewhat of a shock to some of these fighters? I'm not saying that this is the only reason, but I think that there's a good chance that it could play a part.
And a lot of you may point out Rampage. But Rampage is a different type of fighter than most Pride fighters. He feeds off of the energy of the crowd.

It is just another bad excuse if you ask me .
nobody was making excuses about how quiet it was when Chuck lost in Pride against Rampage, i don't see how the opposite can be true.

It's not an excuse. I'm just trying to find an explanation. And I think that a shock like this could definitely affect a fighter. It could affect them just as much, or even more so, than going from a ring to a cage.

Silva lost to Chuck Liddell! There is no shame in that, especially the way he lost. He showed true heart, and a cast iron jaw. There are only a few people in the world who could take so many of chucks best shots and not go to sleep. This was not a Pride fighter coming over and not living up to the hype. Wanderlie may be a ways from a title shot, but he showed he could easily beat anyone in the division. There are some "Pride" guys doing well, there are some who aren't. There are alot of UFC guys who used to be at, or near the top who haven't looked good lately too. I think this topic is to often over analyzed. You need to look at each individual to make an assesment, not how much hype there is surounding them.

I can't speak for a MMA match, but when I wrestled I could never hear the crowd. I was only tuned into my opponent, the ref, and my coach.

I just think it's a two way street. It happend pretty much the exact same way when guys wen't from the UFC to Pride. I think theres a big change and it effects most people. Some guys have made a smooth transition, while some have not, once these guys start getting used to it they'll be fine and probably the exact same as they were in Pride.
