I think Couture said it best, "he only respects you if he owns you". That's his problem. On the whole he's done a good job, but he has a giant ego and a hunger for fame, which leads to making bad decisions and silly statements.

I've wondered about all the hate too. The Arlovski thing I can understand, he doesn't need to be kept from fighting he's a former champ and an exciting fighter. But Randy made his bad decisions too. He agreed to his 4 fight contract and then retired after two. Seems like if he liked the contract in the beginning it's not really all Dana's fault that he left. And who cares about Fedor. If he's happy fighting bums in M-1 thats his problem, the UFC really doesn't need him IMO.

Dana (along with the Fertittas and Joe Silva) are geniuses. They helped turn a sport that was deemed "Barbaric" or "Human Cockfighting" into what most of the public recognizes as a sport.
I applaud him on his efforts and bringing all of these fighters into the UFC. It's not his fault that some of the highly touted imports to fair well to begin with.

He gets blamed for a lot of things he doesn't really control: - Bad decisions in fights (this is done by the judges who are appointed by the state athletic commissions) - Bad matchmaking (Joe Silva is responsible for UFC matchmaking; plus sometimes fighters and their managers decide not to take certain fights) - Editing on TUF (I really doubt he does this personally, it's probably someone on the production crew with Spike having the final say)
