I have no idea why this event isn't in the Secondary League on MMA Playground, but it should be. There are some interesting fights on this card, and I can't believe that none of the "MMA fans" on this board have even mentioned this. Here is the card and my breakdown of the picks:
MMA Rules:
-Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto (16-1) vs. Rani Yahya (11-3)
-Sergei Kharitonov (15-3) vs. Siala Siliga (3-0)
-Joachim Hansen (15-6-1) vs. Kazuyuki Miyata (5-5)
-Hideo Tokoro (19-12-1) vs. Kiyoshi Tamura (16-10)
-Kazushi Sakuraba (22-10-1) vs. Masakatsu Funaki (38-11-1)
-Bob Sapp (8-2-1) vs. Bobby Ologun (2-1)
-Melvin Manhoef (18-4-1) vs. Yosuke Nishijima (0-4)
-Ikuhisa Minowa (38-26-8) vs. Zuluzinho (3-3)
K-1 Kickboxing Rules:
-Masato vs. Yong Soo Chi
-Musashi vs. Bernard Ackah
-Kenji Kubo vs. Yudai
-HIROYA vs. Tsukasa Fuji
Yamamoto, who is ranked by most as the top featherweight in the world, should easily dispatch of Yahya. There is talk that Kid could make his way over to the States sometime next year to face WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber to determine the top featherweight in the world.
Kharitonov, a PRIDE veteran and one of the more underrated heavyweights in the world, faces boxer Siala Siliga. Siliga is 3-0, but he has not faced anybody the caliber of Kharitnov.
There were rumors that former PRIDE Joachim "Hellboy" Hansen had signed with the UFC, but he apparently seems happy in K-1. He should easily defeat Miyata.
Kiyoshi Tamura is a 195-pound fighter, and Hideo Tokoro normally fights against featherweights. Tamura wins this one easily.
Kazushi Sakuraba, known as "The Gracie Hunter" (he has defeated Royler, Royce, Renzo, and Ryan), is one of the most popular Japanese fighters of all-time. His opponent, Masakatsu Funaki, is also a legend, but he last fought in 2000 (a loss to Rickson Gracie). Saku wins this matchup of legends.
There is talk that Bob Sapp could face Kimbo Slice sometime in February in the US, but he has to worry about Bobby Ologun for now. Ologun, who is a bit of a character, seems overmatched in this fight. Sapp is a big man (350 pounds), and although he may not be the most talented fighter, that size creates a problem for anyone.
Melvin Manhoef is an experienced kickboxer, and I can only hope that he doesn't hurt Nishijima in this fight.
Ikuhisa "The Punk" Minowa is famous for taking on some of the more interesting fighters in PRIDE (he holds a win over Butterbean), and he faces another "sideshow freak" in Brazilian fighter Zuluzino. I'd liike to see Minowa submit him with a triangle.

I find it hard to believe that nobody on this board cares about K-1. What is it about that?

Hey i've been trying to let everyone know about all the K-1 events, I ussually get less responses then you because I can respond to yours . There seems to only be a small number of people who know that there is K-1 mma and K-1 kickboxing, if you just say K-1 some will take it to mean kickboxing only, others mma only. I'll be watching this event since I can't watch Yarrenoka, but I will be happy to watch it

Yeah, Yosuke Nishijima has all four of his fights in PRIDE, but I don't even remember him. Here are his stats (from Sherdog):
PRIDE 31-Loss to Mark Hunt (KO-Punch) PRIDE TEA-Loss to Hidehiko Yoshida (Sub-Triangle) PRIDE FCA-Loss to Evangelista Santos (Sub-RNC) PRIDE 32-Loss to Phil Baroni (Sub-Kimura)
All of those loses are to game opponents (no cans), but I don't think he has a shot against Manhoef. Easy fight to pick

If I remember correctly, I asked about this in the Game Talk forum, it's most likely because there's already a 12/31 event (Yarennoka/M-1) and you'd only be able to make wagers (and maybe picks) on one fo those events, but not both.

I don't think people are going to know what to think when and if Funaki submits him with ease... and I've akways loved Saku.
Then again maybe age hasn't been kind fo Masa... who knows...

He stood and banged with Hunt for 3 rounds and was causing him alot of trouble. He's basically a boxer turned fighter, his ground game is almost non-existant. It will be a stand-up wae, take my word on it!

Nishijima is the star for the Japanese audience and Manheof is about the best fighter he has even a chance to beat. If the fight stays standing and out of the clinch, I would favor him--but those are big ifs.

Even then it's tought to call. If Manhoed starts unloading hard it will be over quick... and that's a small if...

^ Yeah, I agree. I'm not saying Nishijima is a sure thing under any gameplan, just that he can outbox almost anyone he fights and he can outwrestle, clinch, and groundfight nobody, so giving him a kickboxer is about the best thing for him.
