It has been months since the official announcement that Mike Swick would be dropping a weight class and fighting at 170 pounds, but until recently he was still waiting for a chance to fight at welterweight. Now his fight is set as Josh Burkman stepped in to accept the bout and will face him on Jan. 23 at the next scheduled UFC Fight Night event.

this is great matchup for a fight night and swick gets instant credibility if he can get a win over a veteran of Burkman's calibur

I like both of these fighters, but I haven't been to impressed with Burkman in his last several fights. I think Swick will come out fast and strong to make a point to the ww division and I think he will overwhelm Burkman pretty quick. Should be a good fight, but I don't see it getting out of the first.

The way I see it is if Mike doesn't get a quick KO then he's in for a big fight....Dec or late sub by Burkman! Either way fight of the night could be in the bag!!

Burkman likes to finish quick like Mike too. If Swick makes a mistake it could be lights out for him. Burkman will probably be stronger than Swick even though Swick is coming down. I'm picking the peoples warrior.

It is really hard to call this fight because I have never seen Swick fight at this wieght. The one problem with Burkman is, if he cant control the fight, he becomes over-whelmed, especially with other wrestlers.

I think Swick will come out and control the pace of the fight, wear Burkman down and win by TKO most likely in the first half of the second round.

Fight of the year 2008. RIGHT HERE!!!!

This is going to be a sick fight. Sick wrestling slams, sick slugging it out. Sick transitions. This is going to be a crazy fight!

I'm really looking forward to this fight. Both guys are explosive, athletic guys and it's gonna be an intense match u. I'm gonna give it to swick for his better stand up though.
