(Following the match the broadcast team spoke with current UFC heavyweight champion Randy "The Natural" Couture. Couture said he is not retired and plans to fight Fedor Emilianenko as soon as his UFC contract expires.)

This is from the MMAweekly.com PbP of the HDNet fights. He said his personal services contract expires in October and that's the soonest they could do it...you know if Fedor actually takes a challenging fight.

Gawd Dammit! UFC just give Randy more money. Then after the Fedor fight, win or lose, he'll end up retiring and you know it.

But that kinda sucks, because after the Fedor fight we know for sure that he's retired.

if this fight happen in M-1, we will have an amazing UFC card at the same date and m-1 ppv will be desastrous i think.

Dana will do something to stole the show for sure .

i don't see how the UFC can stay there and do nothing if they are not involves in the promotion of one fighter.

something big is coming guys !!

Oh well. The UFC might as well just let Randy go. He doesn't want to fight and all this arguing and having him deny offers over and over can't be helping them at all. I'm a big Couture fan but I'm getting sick of all of this. It's being dragged on for way too long and I'm not really even excited about the Fedor fight anymore.

Exactly. I hate it when this happens with fights. Everyone wants to see it, it's talked about all the time, has potential to be an amazing fight, and then something comes up and put off for the longest time. When it finally happens people are starting to lose interest. It's like Liddell vs. Silva IMO. People are still excited for this fight no doubt, but it is definitely less exciting than it would have been a long time ago.

Totally agree. Imagine if it happened at the 2003 GP, then Wandy won. Then It happened two years later and Chuck won. Then the third is now happening at 79...that would be hype!

Well, you right, specially if by that time Couture don't fight ( witch is probable ) and Fedor fight only ( well i will not qualify his futur opponents but anyways ).
the interrest of the average guys who don't follow it like us can be very low, specially if by that time the UFC are making some top cards with good fights and good rivalery .

They should sign Fedor for one fight with no contract strings. And give Randy more money then we'll see the fight and Fedor will still do what he wants.

its quite obvious its not about money with fedor......his contract was for 2 years and a hell of alot more money then m-1 is giving him....unless m-1 is doing things "under the table" it makes no sense.

and you can't argue anything about that the money diffference was not even close...... so we don't fully know what m-1 is giving him so really we can't say he would come for 1 fight

Well I believe the reason was about fighting in sambo. So if he's only signed for one fight then his contract will be up quick.

No he wanted non exclusive so he could fight anyone. I don't see Fedor walking away from any fight if a contract was offered for it, and if he did I would then agree with what all you guys are saying about him. I just think it's a really bad fight for Randy to go out on, because fedor is so hard to sub, out strike, or gnp. He has so many escapes from everything I honestly see him as the Gretzky of fighting, and this is all with not liking him a tremendous amount(I tend to like strikers more), and when he's rocked he knows exactly what to do(see fujita fight). Like it or not he is one tremendous talent.

i don't think that was it, most of the best fighters are in ufc anyway, so its not about who he could fight .... really if it was he could have taken his 4 fights made his 8 million or whatever and then went back to whatever he wanted to do, but instead he took what like 2 million i think... from m-1??

the way i see it most fighters have maybe 5-6 years of good money makin in this sport , and only the past say 2 years have they been making more money, so if he thinks not taking the big money from ufc was a good move what was m-1 offering??

like a job for us lets say you only have 10 years to make good money and someone offers you a job for 2 years making 8 million but you don't like your boss, but then someone else offers you 2 million instead for the same time...i take the 8 million and suck it up.....unless the guy offering 2 million is offering alot of cash under the table and tax free of course ...LOL
