i'll take pride any day over ufc.. if i cared a lot about the "woman with the freaky voice" the commentators, and other entertainment value aspects like that, i'd watch UFC. if i want to watch top level fighters do what they do best, i'll pick pride. ufc for the moment pleases their TUF crowd and not their die-hards, which is better from of course the money issue, but not good for us. all pride needs to do is get their act together via promoting events, which i think they're already takin a step towards.
pride fighters > ufc fighters, i personally prefer the ring the female commentator is a nice touch the entrances are much better

We will see who the better organization clearly..by the end of the year. As the year goes on UFC will land more big names from PRIDE. As for the Ufc the Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg announcing far outs Pride. Ring entrances by far the ufc. UFC feels like a fight night. Pride feels like a laid back casual event.

I support all MMA. I just ordered Showtime for the Elite XC. I don't care what rog it is. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

I actually disagree, I am and have always been a UFC fan, and after looking over more fight footage from Pride I still believe that the UFC fighters are better all around. I will admit that many of the Pride fights are more entertaining, but I do not think that translates into the pride fighters being more talented. Many times i think the fights are more exciting because the fighters are less well-rounded. The easiest place to see the dfference is the lack of wrestling skills I find in the Pride Fighters, now I know there are exceptions but I think there is a real advantage to the UFC in this department. I think many of the Pride fighters go in determined to get a great knockout, so they stand in front of each other and throw bombs until one goes down, which i agree is awesome to watch, but not the greatest way to get a win all of the time. That being said I do love Pride also. It is like trying to argue between Jim Beam and Jack Daniels, either way we're gettin fuckd up ! I think now that the UFC offers as much to the fighters as Pride we will see alot of League jumping and it will be easier to see who the best of the best are.

I hope this board doesnt get as bad as Sherdog with all of this UFC vs Pride stuff. But personally i think they both have there + and -..
UFC is way more accessable to the American Fan, its broadcasted on Free TV once a month and has weekly TV shows promoting there product.
Pride is huge in Japan but there attempt to bring it to mainstream US fans seems forced and without Full Pride Rules and crazy US vs Japan matchmaking they are showing us a worse product than we are use too....
But i am a fan of both and think that Pride is more entertaining overall (only the shows in Japan) but seems to be on the outside looking in at the US Market.....

i love the ufc and buy most of the events on ppv. it just seems to me that the pride cards are far better matchups with better talent in many cases. can other ufc fans look at it objectively and come to the same conclusion?
Well to tell you the truth. UFC dominates. The fighters are great, the rules are professional, money wise well we all know UFC is the most popular sport out there right now. UFC is the fastest growing sport by far. Only just a fight night brings in more money and fans then a world series or even a superbowl. Come on, Everyone knows UFC is the best of the best

MMA = MMA
Now if we could get Pride to allow elbows and UFC to allow kicks to the head of a downed opponent, I would be in dreamland.
But I have to give it up to the Pride fans, their MMA smarts are superior to UFC fans. However, MMA fans are superior to both!

As much as the UFC has grown in the past few years I don't know how you can claim their fighters are more well rounded. I think the problem with a lot of new MMA fans that start with the UFC and refuse to branch off to anything else is that they see a lot of the typical UFC fighters with their backgrounds (comprised of alot of wrestling with minimal striking and ground ability) and think that's the default for the majority of fighters, but it's not. Look at some of the top tier combatants right now and a lot of them have no formal wrestling training (what you think of as american wrestling), shit I would contend that Sambo is more effective in the ring then wrestling entirely based off of the preformance of one Fedor Emelianenko and only because I have a hard on for him, I guess
Anyways there are things I like in both organizations that I think would benefit each other; UFC's ability to mass market itself and do a ******* awesome job of it, and Prides professionalism concerning fighters and rules and whatnot, also how can you claim a cage looks more professional then a ring? Not to mention I'd rather see head stomps and knees that will END a fight instead of useless ******* elbows that serve no other purpose then to cut and bloody the opponant and have that fight stopped (unless you're Kendal Grove and like to get knocked out by elbows lols).

But don't forget Pride fans throwing stuff into the ring after the Silva/Kondo fight on the Clash Of the Titans card.That hasn't happend at a UFC. Don't forget all the mismatches in Pride. Fedor/Zulu. Cro-Cop/ Dos. Giant Silva/Whomever he fights. Butter Bean. LA Giant. etc. etc. etc.
