I have to say that judging by the way Paulo Filho was fighting (stand-up) on Wednesday night, Anderson Silva would destroy Filho in very little time. It seemed like Sonnen was out striking him and he was just out of it. Henderson is the olny match for Silva at this point.

I really hope that Filho was sick because if he was top shape, well, he will be destroy by silva, Hendo, Franklin, Okami, and etc....

filho looked slower than usual last night, so im wondering what was up with him. i thought it really sucked that the fans booed him, he won, and he wasnt the one that stopped the fight, not to mention the fact that sonnens arm would be in brazil with filho in a few more seconds had the ref not stepped in. pure class by sonnen after the figth though, he is a true professional.
back on subject, anderson looks unbeatable right now so i have a hard time picking against him, but if filho is at his best he can beat anyone plain and simple. silva gets the nod, but filhos resiliance could play a huge factor were he to get dropped but not KOed

I got tired of American MMA crowds a long time ago. The Japanese crowds are miles cooler. Just another reason to miss PRIDE and look forward to Yarennoka, I guess.

I might be the only one impressed with Filho, but that's probably because I think Sonnen is an underrated fighter and a tough matchup for a lot of guys, especially at 185.
Filho looks durable, but slow. He is going to get killed on his feet, but he only has to close the distance and get the takedown to change the outcome of the fight. He looks like he can take some damage to get there, so I don't think it's out of the question. I'd favor Silva over any MW in the world except Henderson, but I think Filho has a better shot than most.

Unless Paulo could take anderson down from the clinch then maybe he'd have a shot, but anderson would just use that reach and pick him apart. Easy anderson is #1 MW in the world not Paulo like they said on WEC

lol one "Ok" performance when you finish the guy takes you from "oh he's great, he'd give anderson such a test" to "he'd get killed by everyone in the UFC" and "another overrated pride fighter". I think theres to much of this lately.

Come on man, I was yelling at my television screen throughout the whole fight! I don't think most of the fans were booing Filho, I think they were probably booing out of frustration that the better fighter that night lost.

filho has the bjj required to have a chance of subbig silva. Nobody else besides lutter and lister have that kind of bjj.
lister is fairly one dimensional with his mma game and unmpressive tho so i can count him out. lutter already lost to him.
Hendo may be the best wrestler at mw besides lindland but that doesnt mean anything b/c silva's ju jitsu is more than good eough to avoid sub attempts from hendo or lindland and eventually they would have to face the music on the feet not being able to do much of anything on the ground......eventually there getting ko'd, especially lindland.
I think filho and hendo have about an equall chance.
Filho actually has the skills to make silva tap.
But hendo has just as good of a chace if not a better one using his tough chin, greco roman ad outgrinding silva for a DECISION!
All in all i think silva is gonna keep schooling dudes until a fighter with hendo like toughess and wrestling but with great bjj to topp it off comes along and beats silva.

the big difference is that the fight only hits the ground if sonnen wants it to. this is not the case vs silva as filho has very good takedowns and although silvas bjj is good it is not in the same league as fliho's. you really cant tell much about how that fight would go based on how the sonnen fight went. noone has any doubt that anderson would destroy him on the feet its just a matter of if filho can get the fight to the ground and finnish it there before getting caught and this fight did nothing to say one way or the other. if anything it makes me think his chances are better because he proved that he could take punishment and that is a nesecity to beat anderson.
