Does anyone think that Brian Stann has a chance in the UFC, or do you belive he is too early in his career to compare him to the best in the game

I like Brian Stann. He is a strong, agressive fighter that can obviously finish fights. However, at this time, I don't think he is ready for the UFC and wouldn't be able to crack the top 10. Let him win and defend the LHW belt 2-3 times in WEC and I'll reconsider.

Don't you think that it's a little early to say that a guy with 5 pro fights is going to be great? I'm not saying that you are wrong, but I think you maybe jumped the gun a little.

same can be said with soko (although i think he has a little bit more than 5)
people can spot talent when they see it IMO

I think Stann has a chance, but right now, i'd much rather see him down in the WEC for a while (like the rest of this year, all of next, and maybe til early 2009), to keep on gaining some experience.. By then, he should have at least another two fights, which will put him at 7-0 minimum, and at that point, I would say that he should go up to the UFC.

Wait...who has more than five? According to Sherdog, Stann is 5-0. And if you were talking about Soko, then he's only 4-0. What do you mean? Maybe I read that wrong.

stann is in line to be the LHW posterboy for WEC and my guess is he gets the next crack at marshall. BTW is it just me or did marshall look like he wanted to jump onto the cage but his momentum carried him over so he went with it and ran into the crowd. if thats the case he did a hell of a lot better job covering his flub than colman did when he jumped onto the ropes.

Stann needs quite a bit of experince b4 moving up to UFC class fighters....he can run the table in the WEC LHW div. after getting the belt there. He just needs more time to put it all together.

Excellent point. However i would like to see Stann on his back ,against a top notch grappler ,before I think he is ready for the UFC. I do think he will beat Marshal if they both just stand and trade though. Just for the record Sokoudjou is 4-1.

I really could care less about the LHW division in WEC but I think the best move to do is put one of UFCs best fighters from the past to dominate like they do with the other divisions.
It will never happen but Tito Ortiz would be a good move imo to move to WEC. Hes not getting anywhere in the UFC and he could market WEC really well. Also WEC would finally say they have alot of big names with Fihlo, Faber, Pulver, and Ortiz.
Mark my words. It would put WEC on the map though they seem to slowly be progressing there regardless

Ha, does anyone see the related topics with an old topic about the future of UFC's Heavyweight division by peachfuzz? Its amazing how much changes in a couple months! He was kinda right about Chuck vs Wandy though...

I hate the guy and his "He's not fighting just me, he's everything that I stand for" bullshit. Everything about him makes me wanna puke.
He is a good fighter though but I don't think he's ready for Marshall just yet. He needs a few more fights and definately some tougher opponents first.

For some reason he reminds me of a bigger Nate Quarry, and I think they rushed Nate along too quickly when they threw him in with Franklin (Pretty evident when you watch the fight)... So, I'll say that he needs a little time yet, but anythings possible

fortunately for stann, marshal is no where near rich in terms of mma ability. im just not that impressed by the rhino, the guy comes out and puts on exciting fast paced fights, but i dont see a ton of skill there. who knows though, its not like the WEC is full of LHW talent so marshal could end up being the champ for awhile, my guess though is that sooner than later stann gets his shot and takes the strap.
