UFC President Dana White and UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture had a meeting last week to discuss Couture's future with the UFC. Dana White commented on the meeting and many other things via “The Carmichael Dave Show” on KHTK in Sacramento, Calif. He said that things between Couture and the UFC are up in the air at this point and "we'll see what happens next".

5 rd and 7 rd fight are a good idea !! the chance of a major bad decision would be lower that way.

Said that he doesn't see Arlovski fighting anywhere else beside the UFC.
Well here's a novel idea for you Dana, what about letting us see Arlovski fight in the UFC!?

At first i got really excited about increasing the number of rounds, but the question is if the total fight time stays the same or not. I'd rather have three 5min rounds than five 3min rounds to be honest with you. Seven 5min rounds sounds like a true test for a champion.
And I don't really care about Couture anymore

Sad, but agreed... what ever happens happens... doesn't really matter to me anymore.

I liked the idea of more rounds so long as they stay 5 minutes, AA NEEDS a fight real soon on PPV, and don't give up on Randy just yet....give it till New Years...you know you love him!

Not too clear from your post, but I want to clarify that the article did not say the round time would be reduced at all, just the number of rounds increased.
I see one positive from the round increase idea and two negatives.
The positive is that great fights that go the distance will last longer. Whether this means less decisions is irrelevant. The bottom line is that we get to watch a good fight for longer.
The downside is that it also applies to boring fights. However, this may or may not be applicable depending on whether a round increase changes the mentality of a fighter. i.e. will they fight differently because of the round changes. Mind you it can be for better or worse. i.e. fighters might be more conservative in Rd 1 and/or 2.
The other thing is that with the potential for longer fights, so is the result for longer PPVs (possibly less fights too). the UFC would have to either cut down on downtime in between fights, which might be hard to do given that the next fighter is guaranteed a certain amount of prep time, or lengthen the PPV time slot or show one less fight a night.
I would only be interested if there was less downtime in between fights, but I doubt it will happen. IF the PPV slots are longer, I would rather see more undercard fights myself.

True, if the fights are longer then they need to counter that with somehow not robbing us of the number of fights viewed per PPV, which is already a small issue.

5 rounds for non-title and 7-rounds for title fights is a great idea and showing all the fights on PPV needs to happen. They've gotten really stingy with only showing 4 or 5 fights on PPV.

making rounds longer is very bad. This way Dana can show less fights. 5 already is too little, he might cut it down to 3 fights in 3 hours for $40.00, that is god awful.

In which case your novel idea should be "what about getting Arlovski a new contract?" That's why he's not fighting, only 1 fight left on his current contract.
