Ooh, movie talk...

Comrades: Almost a Love Story, 'cause Maggie Cheung rules.

The Princess and the Warrior, by Tom Tykwer and starring Franka Potente, who also did the aforementioned "Run Lola Run."

District B-13 has some fantastic martial arts choreography and features some great parkour (urban free-running). The best action film of the last few years, imho.

Fallen Angels, 'cause Wong Kar Wai ("Chungking Express") is cooler than you.

The City of Lost Children, 'cause Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("Amelie") is weirder than you.

most of my favorite movies have been listed already(old boy, boondock saints, city of lost children, true romance, etc.) so heres just one more that many havent seen-Evil Alien Conquerors
it stars chris parnell from SNL, and diedrich bader who was oswald on drew carey as evil alien conquerors who come to earth to take over and put our heads on spikes. not a classic in the gone with the wind sense, but it cracks me up every time i see it, especially the giant named croker. worth a look especially for the stoners out there.

A lot of good ones so far. As a movie buff I have luckliy seen most of them mentioned. My favorite cult classics not already mentioned in no particular order except # 1

Awesome list!

1. Boondock Saints
2. The Salton sea

I haven't seen these two. I'll have to add them to my Netflix queue, I guess.

3. True Romance

I was never sure what to call this sub-genre, but this one's a "must-see." I still have a hard-on for Patricia Arquette.

4. The big lebowski

One of the few films I actually own.

5. O bother where art though

6. Army of darkness

I actually thought this was the weakest of the three. "Evil Dead II" was my favorite, particularly for Bruce Campbell's "possessed hand" scene, which was one of the best pieces of physical comedy ever filmed.

7. Where the buffalo roam& Fear and loathing in Las Vegas

Hunter S. Thompson. What more is there to say..?

8. The gods must be crazy
9. Heathers

I actually used to know a girl who went by the name Veronica because of "Heathers." I never found out what her real name was.

As an aside, allow me to again lament the demise of Christian Slater. He had a great run of coolness for about 5 years, from Heathers to Pump Up the Volume to Untamed Heart to True Romance.

10. Bubba Ho-tep

Supposedly, the sequel is still planned ("Bubba Nosferatu and the Curse of the She-Vampires").

11. Repo man
12. Twelve monkeys
13. Tron

14. Jay and silent Bob and mall rats

I liked the first one - "Clerks" - the best, but these two are still great. "Chasing Amy" too. I never saw "Jersey Girl" or "Clerks II" but I've heard they're not up to par.

I don't know if this is a popular movie or not but Memento is one of the more underrated movies just because it doesn't have people swearing and cussing each other off.

Another movie that's more a drama/thriller much like Memento, is the Machinist with Christian Bale. He cuts from his normal 160 to 119, and now he's at 180 something for batman.

I haven't seen it, but I've heard Deliverance is pretty "interesting".

Deliverance

I saw this.. The action was really great and really fast.. The problem is, so was the movie.. It didn't seem to last long enough, and they crammed a whole movie in like an hour, and had to take out some of the plot to make it that short. The action made up for the plot so it's still worth seeing..

Hippy, I was going to list True Romance and Heathers, but thought that people have probably seen them.

There are some on your list that I do want to see, but haven't got around to yet.

I don't think either was a box office smash and they were both made a fair while ago.I know I have personally shown True Romance to about 5 people in the last year between- 20 and 25 who hadn't seen it. Heathers is even more obscure IMO.

Hey Achilles are those foreign language films? I have only seen 3 , , that I like a lot, and I think I should add them to my list.

Pans Labyrinth- ( xchickox) reminded me I left this off- Think Chronicles of narnia gone dark and disturbing. - By the way ( xchickox) departed is the current best picture and made over 100 million at the box office. Don't think it qualifies as unseen

15. Brotherhood of the wolf- I was so into it I for got about the subtitle s. Great mystery , action, and idea.
16. Nightwatch- Russian horror / sci- fi flick . Did so well they are releasing the sequel in English supposedly.

I think J& Bob strike back was the funniest of the Jersey films. Then Clerks & mallrats. Didn't care for Dogma and Chasing Amy's ending ruined one of the great comedies I'd seen at the time. Can't watch it now it made me so pissed. Never saw Clerks 2 and heard I didn't miss much.

Some more that came to me

17. Nightbreed- A town of demos discovered by their enemy and a guy with visions. From a Clive Barker book.
18. Prophecy- Basis is a extra chapter in the bible where the angles rebelled again jealous of God's love for man.
18. From dusk till dawn- Gory Tarantino / Rodriguez Mexican vampire flick.
19. Tremors- Laugh if you want to , but loved the first one of this franchise.
20. Sergeant peppers lonely hearts club band- The bee-gees and Peter Frampton play the beatles in this weird dark musical.
21. Krull- Sci-fi/ fantasy mix. Was ahead of it' time 25 years ago.
22& 23 . A fish called wanda and fierce creatures- Same strring cast. 2 completely differnt movies. jamie Lee Curtis- Kevin Kline- and John Cleese . Seriously my stomach hurts funny.
24. Almost famous- semi-based on a true story. of Cameron Crowes time on tour with the Eagles when he was a teen.
25. Waiting- Ryan Reynolds movie. The game is still the funniest thing I've ever seen on film. A buddy of mine is about to graduate college and escape the horror I unwittingly unleashed on him with this movie. I told him how funny it was and over a 100 people in his frat went to see it together. They began to play the game, and still do as of last week when I talked to him.

I was surprised that a lot of my friends still havent seen these, seeing as how they have become popular lately, but they are must sees

Fight Club
Boondock Saints (already mentioned)
Reservoir Dogs
Butterfly Effect
American History X

I cant think right now, but these are the basics i can remember off the top of my head

*Anything with Edward Norton tends to be underrated but very good

Krull - lol I saw that at the drive inn when I was a kid. I don't remember anything other than pulling that shuriken out of the lava and weird sounding aliens that screem when the die.

No I agree neither were big films. I remember True Romance ads on the TV, but I didn't watch it until it was on video. Heathers, I saw it on the movie channel in elementary school. I own both on DVD now though.

I guess I am forgetting that a large number of people here are 5+ years younger than me and were kids when these movies came out.

I am shocked that you didn't care for Dogma. I thought it was quite brilliant. J&SB had a couple funny parts, but overall I didn't care for it. Mallrats was good. I didn't care for Chasing Amy. I haven't seen either Clerks film yet.

Dude cowcatcher you rock!. Seriously, I thought nobody would be down with Krull out of all my picks. My boy Matty says he walks around his frat house on tiptoe and never looks down. He has twice gotten owned by a dude standing on the kitchen counter( ala Calvins batwing on Radimus). Once with the brains and another with the goat. Apparently that guy pulling the goat got about 20r brothers in an hour. pssh ........ Freaking meat gazers

I just didn't think Dogma was very funny.I get you on the age thing. I'm 36, and eve though I've got close friends from 20 up to 45, a lot of my younger friends partially owe their movie education to me.

26. Office space- I am ashamed to just remember this one, but looked over to my DVD player and their it is. A few buds stuck in the corporate grind pull the superman 3 robbery scam. One of them is hypnotized into not caring. My fax machine has feared me since I saw this movie.

Lenny I think everybody's probably seen your first 5 ( except for the saints of course) , but you are definitely right about Kung Pow IMO . Everything Master Betty says is great. My favorite quote from it is" I am nice man, with happy feelings. All of the time. First, a joke. What do you get when you cross an owl with a bungee chord? My ass. AHH haha, haha, haha, ENOUGH. "
