Warning: What you are about to take in may read more like a pro-wrestling script than a mixed-martial arts story. Sadly, it's all real.

It pains me to see that this is ending the way it is. I think that Randy should be celebrated upon his retirement, not cursed at. Randy is the best fighter ever. Period. It's just sad to see him go out this way (and some of it is his fault)...

It pains me to see that the 'most respected' fighter in the ufc is convinced that money is the only way to show respect. How about showing respect to the other fighters in the division like Nog by not saying that fedor is the only challenge left to you. How about showing respect to your fans by fighting out your contract? How about showing respect to the sport itself by being a fighter first and a millionaire second. I'm not saying that the ufc management has clean hands in this matter, or even that couture is mostly to blame.. truth is that the public doesnt know all the facts, and we can only assume whats really going on. What i am saying is that the randy couture that i knew and loved.. the one who fought from 97-07.. would've been honoured to fight Nogueria, and whoever else the ufc lined up against him. He would've remained an ambassador to the sport because he knows how important that role is, and as long as his family had food on the table, would never have mentioned money

No matter what Randy says, P-Diddy got it right, "It's all boout da benjimens."

Randy says it isn't but that's all he talks about.

I see what you guys are saying about Randy and respect, but I also see it from Randy's standpoint too.

1) Randy fighting Nog: Let's say this happened and Randy beat Nog. What would that prove? That he was better than Nog. That has nothing to do with Fedor since Fedor punished Nog (twice). Randy would still be left in the position that he didn't beat Fedor and he didn't beat anyone that beat Fedor.

I know I know, MMAth doesn't mean anything. Yes, in the real world it doesn't mean anything to predict the outcome of a fight, but it does mean something in the ranking of a given fighter in the (simplified) grand scheme of things.

2) Money, when it comes to a career, is a way of showing respect. Put yourself in the same position as Randy. You work at some place and your boss tells you that you are doing really well and gives you an assistant manager position. Great right? Well, let's say you find out that a bunch of other employees in the same position (or lower) are getting paid less than you (I'm talking significantly). Wouldn't you feel insulted? Wouldn't you feel like your boss does not appreciate you as much as they claim? I know I would.
