January 15, 2007 - The higher ups at THQ have informed IGN that it will announce a brand new licensing deal tomorrow (January 16) that grants the Agoura Hills-based publisher the rights to release videogames based on Zuffa LLC's Ultimate Fighting Championship. This agreement will last through the end of 2011 and applies to PC, handheld and console platforms. The rights also incorporate online, multiplayer and downloadable capabilities.
This is exciting. We could have console and PC UFC games within a year and a half (rumor has it they're already working on it) PC versions could be mod-able beyond belief. This is great news for any gamer/UFC fan .

I'm a huge game fan also...but it's gonna be hard as hell to make a mma game that's actually worth paying $60 for...the other console ufc game they made way back when weren't that great. It seems like everyone I ever played against were just button-mashers

The Pride game they released wasn't too bad and they've been doing a lot of development but I too share your apprehension. It's a tough system to get right but it will be awesome to get a new fight game with the newer fighters and possibly a good career mode and what not. Not to mention online fights.

I think that since the gaming contract goes through 2011 that they will be able to make a pretty good game after a few tries. But at this point anything is better than nothing.

I beleive this game has potential to be an excellent game, if they make along the lines of the past WWE games, I thinkthis could come out to be just as good as Fight Night. The game engine will be very similiar to that of the WWE games. Just I hope to all hell that there is no meter where once it's full you can do some sort of special move (as for some reason I could see that happening dunno why) as that would completley destroy the game. Well for me at least. And hopefully they put in to account where each strengths and weaknesses do come into play with each character. And when career mode comes into play you can't create some sort of super fighter, where all of his stats are full.
There's my hopes and dreams for this game

I'd like to see an MMA game similar to Fight Night on the 360, with grappling etc.
Any UFC game would need a lot of flexibility, the controls are the biggest problem.

The truth is that there's so many movements, guards, and different ways to strike, that it's impossible to make it varied and amused.
I think Pride Fc (Playstation 2) is the most amused on mma games.

The only really good mma game is the old UFC game from the Dreamcast that came out in 1999.
All subsquent UFC have, barring a few minor changes, all been esentially the same .
Hopefully THQ can change the gaming engine and give it a total overhaul.

I have my doubts about this because there is so much to implement and it would be so hard to make it a great game... who knows though it can be done.
