Dana recently announced it on Spike TV's Scream Awards. And now it is made completely official as of ufc.com

http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=8385

Originally this fight was supposed to happen some two years ago, but the PRIDE people wanted in the PRIDE ring and the UFC people wanted it in the UFC's octagon so nothing ended up happening. This could have also happened in the 2003 PRIDE GP but Rampage beat Chuck via second round KO.

Then this fight was also supposed to happen at UFC 76 but Wanderlei was just moving into the US so he needed more time to train. When the ufc sent wand him his contract, it had two options, one was fighting in Sept. and the other option was to fight in Dec. And he chose Dec.

Now the fight that fight fans have been waiting years for is now just out of reach. It wont be long now... Two of the most dominant champions of the two best MMA organization finally facing off against each other.

Its great but for me its a lil too late. i'm not sure how good of a fight 2 guys that seem to be past their prime will be.

im so stoked for this fight... lidells back is against the wall, hes lost his last 2 and if he loses again he's gotta consider retirement. but if he wins, that'll shake up that light heavyweight divsion even more. im also interested to see how wandy likes the cage, in 3 ufc fights he's 1-2. alot will be solved on december 29th.

i dont think wanderlei is passed his prime. hes still fairly young and his last couple of fights werent pushovers by any means. crocop and hendo were/are (respectively, lol) beasts. i dont really care about this fight too much but im pretty darn sure wanderlei would win.

before, i was sure chucks crisp punches would be the antidote for wanderleis wild looping punches but if jardine could outstrike liddel, who has even loopier punches, im pretty sure silva will too.

i dont think liddell deserves that fight...
he looks really bad
and a third straight loss... (if it happens)
its gonna put the UFC and himself in a bad place...

Id be very surprised if there are any Chuck fanboys left that will really think he can win this fight, tbh i dont think he has a chance, Wandy is nowhere near past his prime, hes only about 32 whereas Chuck will be 38, and im just so confident in Wandy and stoked this fight is happening now, its as good as if they were both still champs, means so much this fight

It's about time! Should be a great fight no matter what, looking forward to seeing Wandy in UFC for the first time in a long time.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I think Chuck has exactly what it takes. I think Wandy's style is perfect for Chuck. We'll just have to wait and see.

Chuck has more than enough skill and experience to win this fight. Wandys a pusher and a looper, Chucks a counter puncher who thrives backing up....I hope this is a war, weve all waited so long for this and i am going to hate to see it end.

Who ever wins this one is going to have MAD braggin rights!!!!! Good luck to both, id hate to see either loose to honest. i love both these fighters....maybe theyll hit eachother at the same time and knock eachother out!!

I'd like to have seen it w/ both guys in their prime, but fine-a freaking-ly! It still has drawing ability, and that 79 card is stacked...

wandy is still young and has good years left in him. chuck can still do what he does also. the most important thing is the style match-up that will make this fight interesting. chucks' back is against the wall he has to put on a good performance and wany has pressure on him to perform and win. because they are both coming off losses it makes it more interesting not as interesting as them both being champs and fighting but it will still be a good fight.

One of them will get hurt during training because they will be working their @$$es off like they never have before. Neither of them wants to lose 3 in a row. I will believe the fight is a go when both of them are in the ring and BJM says "Let's get it on!"

I have no problem admitting that Liddell looked like shit against Jardine, as a huge fan...believe me I noticed. Liddell is nowhere near done....its so easy to forget how dominant a fighter is after a few losses. Wandy is an animal there is no doubt that if Chuck comes out like he did against Jardine, its going to be a long night for him. But I gaurantee, if he comes out with that look in his eyes, and we all know that look...we are going to see some fireworks. He has lost confindence, mostly his fans have and it is a shame because fair weather fans are the worst kind. I think he is gonna come out and light Wandy up. We will see though, its all speculation until it goes down...

WAR LIDDELL
