I looked through and didnt' really see any posts about Tim Sylvia's calling out of Cheick Kongo in the press conference.
I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this match up are? Personally I think it would be a great fight between two giants.

To me it shows that Tim has some guts.
I mean I think Tim is the better fighter, but Kongo is DANGEROUS on his feet and would push the pace, so Tim would have a hard time slowing the match down like he loves to do.
To me it was Tim saying, I know you dislike me Dana because I am not exciting, but let me fight Kongo and prove to you I can knock someone out. He would be guarenteed a title shot after beating Kongo and Vera.

LMAO!!!
Joe- Who do you want to fight next? Tim- Well I want to go against 'Chech" Kongo.
"Chech" LMAO!!!
Laughing aside this would be a sick fight though. They would bang it out no doubt. Kongo would press Tim to his limits and Tim will need to be at top form. I would see Kongo by Unanimous Decision thought because he trains with Rampage so they would find away to get him that win. Too Bad Vera didn't train with Rampage and Juanito FULL TIME or I think he could have won.
But yeah this would be a sick fight.

ya i would like to see them two go at it, kongo has great striking but sylvia has more power, i think tim would ko him with a big shot but he would take some punishment before doing so.

Haha, yeah but did you hear the part where Big Tim puts on the redneck accent and says "I'll call him whatever I want" He seemed in really good spirits. Tim's a real sensitive guy when it comes to the crowd and the media and it was good to see him being light hearted like that.

I did gain a bit of respect for Tim in his fight. Granted, he did clinch and do as little as was nessacary to win those rounds, before going for it in round 3, which is something I don't really approve of. That to me still seems like the "fighting not to lose" Tim, rather than fighting to win. However, when he really did just go for it, he looked pretty good, at least for Tim Sylvia. He was still lumbering and plodding about the octagon, and I think a good striker like Kongo could work around him and hit him from the sides. Cro Cop espescially would be good at it, he is the same size(ish) as Vera, but a lot faster, stronger and harder hitting. I'd still like to see Cro Cop and Tim fight, but Tim and Kongo will do.
If Tim takes Kongo down he can win the fight easily there, I think Kongo has the tools to beat him standing. For sure, Kongo is big enough to resist being pressed into the cage for the first 2 rounds. If Tim tries that tactic, he will find that Kongo is much more active in the clinch than Vera, that much is assured!

I don't think Tim was the one to initiate the clinch because in the first round he was talking to Vera saying 'come on Brandon' trying to egg him on to do something from the position. He was just trying to push forward and not allow Vera to throw his kicks (look at the last 13 seconds of round 2), and Vera clinched to work some greco ties and what not. This was a good fight for Tim.
Moving on to Kongo, although Kongo has some of the skinniest legs in the HW division (really, just take a look at them) I think his upper body strength will make the clinch position look a whole different. Plus, both these guys are aggressive strikers who may pull role reversals and back off each other, (Arlovski-Sylvia 1) or they could go out swinging and finally have an action packed LW type fight (please let it be like Fisher-Stout). I see this one going to Tim, because he knows how to neutralize many of the top strikers with his height and reach and it looks like back surgery helps fighters get back into their old shape, same cant be said for Franklin and his nasal surgery .

I'm gonna say Kongo takes it because they both like to stand and Kongo has better striking and works well out of the clinch. (In My Opinion, of course)

Even though (Unlike most) I'm sort of a big Tim fan, I'd have to agree that this is one match up where Tim's striking doesn't have a distinct advantage because of his size.

Yea i mean i figured Tim would beat Vera just because of his size and his reach i didn't see the broken hand coming though. I think it was a pretty boring fight all and all.
Tim might want to be careful what he wishes for. I understand Tim would have the reach however clinching with Kongo would be a problem for him. Kongo has great knees and i think Tim would regret standing with Kongo. Tim leaves his hands down too much and i think Kongo throws some nice hits in but all in all goes to the judges in a three round fight lots of stand up.

At least he didnt ask for a title shot right away he is willing to earn it.
I think this fight will take place regardless since I see Kongo fighting for the title inevitably.
