The following is a note from the WrestlingObserver.com website:

Strikeforce announced the first one-night tournament ever in California, which will be a four-man middleweight tournament featuring Joe Riggs and Falaniko Vitale on 11/16 in San Jose at the HP Pavilion. Promoter Scott Coker said it was be streamed live on Yahoo! like the Playboy Mansion show was. Cung Le will be in the non-tourament main event.

WOW

Wonder who Cung Le will fight then??? Hope its Mayhem who i think is under contract with them after the buyout of ICON

They are being pretty smart giving alot of MMA fans what they want in the form of a tourney, tho you would like to see higher quality MW fighters in there it will still be good stuff

Wouldnt even have to be that decent, just a half decent wrestler who will actually take him down

*NOTE* This event is newly annouced, the Elite XC show on Showtime is still on 11/10 but this STRIKEFORCE event is on live yahoo streaming 6 days later

I have heard Sean Salmon may be the fighter he's facing.

Good, I miss tourneys. I understand why the fighters wanted to do one prepared fight, but from a fan's pov it was cool.

That would be SPOT ON for what id mentioned, good chance while standing to KHTFO but will definately be tested on his sprawl and almost certainly his ground game

i hope Cung Le is as good on the ground and the sprawl as his spinning back kick is

Sean Salmon is much improved, and I actually think he could beat Cung Le. Le's kick are devastating, and he has some quick feet and standup, but Sean looked amazing against Mikko Ruponen. I'm looking forward to seeing his second bout at 185 at HCF, so we'll see.

Le will have to have some great sprawl and ground escapes, I think Salmon vs. Le is a great matchup.

Salmon also confirmed he was talking to Strikeforce about the matchup in his MMAJunkie column.
