Lets consider this for a moment. Hypothetical situation, Fedor signs to UFC. Dana White throws a low-caliber fighter at him for his first fight. If he loses, Pride / Fedor fans defend him with "Its just the transition from ring to cage, give him some time" while non-fans of Fedor say things like "See, Fedor wasn't #1, he can't handle the UFC". If he wins, Fedor has another win on his record and his next fight would be Randy Couture. Yes, the biggest match of the century in some people's books, Fedor vs Couture. Now we can speculate (as evidenced by numerous threads) over and over who would win this fight, but lets look at this from a different perspective. If Fedor beat Couture, Fedor fans would jump around in joy and everyone would be forced to put Fedor at their #1 spot. If Couture won, apply the same sentence replacing the names. Now, so far I've only been stating the obvious, but I'm boiling it all down to 1 question - what does any of it prove? If Fedor loses in the cage, then its either because hes adjusting to the cage or Fedor was overrated. If Fedor wins, its because Couture had a bad day or Fedor is the greatest of all time. This leaves me with other questions, such as -
1: If Fedor was dominant over Couture in the cage, does that mean the excuses of CC / Shogun losing due to not making the proper adjustments from ring -> cage are total BS? 1a: And if so, is CC really losing his touch? Or is Fedor just such a great fighter that it wouldn't matter if it was ring or cage?
2: If Couture was dominant over Fedor, does that mean there really is a Pride curse and adjusting to the octagon really dose pose a significant threat to the careers of Pride fighters coming to UFC?

I'm not bothered if I never see Fedor in the cage. Im my eyes he has already cemented himself as the greatest MMA fighter of our era, it will be a long time before there is someone as good as he is again.

Regardless of what people think now about him fighting in M1 against 2nd tier competition...you can't take away what Fedor has accomplished. He has the best record of any fighter that I can think of, therefore making him the greatest fighter that we have ever saw in the ring OR cage...which pretty much by default makes him the greatest fighter of all time. Couture is great and if Fedor doesn't fight top 5 competition, then Couture will move to #1. Big deal. Fedor is still the greatest, #1 spot be damned.

Or the cage? He is #1 because he beat lots of folks, but we have to be honest here and realize he has never fought in a cage. He is a ring fighter (and will probably always will be at this rate).
To answer the OP's question, yes I still want him in the UFC, I don't know anyone who doesn't. We want to see Fedor fight the best, and unless M-1 really steps it up in acquiring some sick talent, I don't see this happening there.

Yes, I DEFINATELY want Fedor in the UFC, although now it's probably not going to happen. He's one of the best fighters of all time, if not the best. He's beat a lot of damn good fighters including CroCop, Big Nog, Hunt, Randalman, Fujita, etc. I just want to continue to see him fight the best of the best. I think Couture could beat him, he definately has a chance, although I give Fedor the edge (probably a big edge). I also want to see him fight others, including AA and CroCop again. I don't think Sylvia would have a chance. He doesn't do well when others press the action and throw him around like Couture did, and we all know Fedor would throw him around and beat on him (GnP).

I didn't mean that he has beaten anyone in the cage...I'm trying to say that he is one of the best, probably THE best, fighter we have ever saw...regardless of whether those fighters fought in a cage or ring. I know he hasn't fought in a cage.

He just cemented his legacy--- he is NOT the best of all time. He's lucky if he's in the top 5 now. Real champions fight. His record ain't what ppl claim. He's far from being able to go where he wants and forever be considered the top in a sport in it's infancy.

i think fedor made the worst decision when he decided not to go to the UFC! I think...
1. That he is trying to protect his record, i dont think there is that many top fighters in M1. 2. I think to myself, why wouldn't u want the UFC Belt, they top MMA Organization in the world!?!? 3. Afraid that he might go in the UFC looking like Cro Cop(1-2).... 4. Doesn't wanna fight Couture!

no...i don't know why people keep saying this...just no...
although i think randy can beat fedor inside the cage, i think fedor doesn't believe that. fedor doesn't duck anybody, i am tired of people saying that he did, he didn't. he couldn't secure a contract with the ufc that secured his best interests, like the sambo tourneys. although i think he made a huge mistake with not signing with the ufc, i don't think he didn't because he didn't want to fight couture.

#1 we don't know who bought m-1, might be a big company with lots of dough to bring in good fighters.
#2 barnett would most likely follow suit for us to see long awaited barnett vs fedor (to solidify fedors rank, while couture makes a garbage hollywood movie)
i think fedor made the right choice
