The long-talked about deal between UFC and the pay TV network HBO, which Dana White "guaranteed by the end of 2007", is officially dead. No specific reasons except the business models not making sense.
Article
Bad for HBO, but potentially very good for Spike and fans who don't or can't get HBO, this could mean more free UFC events on Spike. Dana can't be too happy about this right now, yet another grand master plan blowing up in his face.

Thank goodness, spike gives ufc as much broadcasting as they want. HBO wouldn completely ignore the audience and they already werent offering UFC what they wanted with their own commentators. I say this is very good for the sport and Dana needs to keep it this way or he'll be the next Don King.

At our worst we were still better than most. At our best we could just wipe the floor with the lot of them. It was just a very good live band."

Finding another network is understandably an issue for the UFC so that they can secure their future. However, if they leave the spike network then they are cutting ties with a lot of MMA/UFC fans. Not everyones has more than just basic cable...I mean C'mon read the posts!!

It is in the US too. HBO is a premium network, you have to pay more for it.

it would of been kind of cool to see who they would of had fight for an HBO card
but then again who would they get to announce the thing. Shotime has tied up almost every other big name mma announcer (quadros, mauro, glazier)
i guarantee larry merchant would huff paint in the parking lot before he would ever do play by play on an mma fight, hell jim lampley wouldnt have any idea what they were talking about. either would lennox
i could see max kellerman doing it though, i heard he actually is a fan of mma

Probably would've been their boxing guys-Jim Lampley, Larry Merchant, Harold Lederman (I like him), Kellerman, Dran Charles, Emanuel Steward, and Lennox Lewis. I think who would call the fights may have been a sticking point, it likely wouldn't have been Goldberg & Rogan.

you think emanuel, lennox, or even merchant would even attempt to call an mma match?
