A rumored bout between heavyweights Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (30-4-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Cheick Kongo (11-3-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) will likely take place in early 2008 — not at UFC 79 in December as was first reported — says Dave Meltzer of FOX Sports.

that potentially sets the heavyweight title picture back a few months, very disappointing imo, i guess the ufc wants to use non title fights as main events more often.

i actually wouldn't get too excited about that match-up because i dont really see herring as as a serious threat in the HW division. i think a good non-title main event would be gonzaga vs arlovski as both fighters are on the same tier of the HW division and a win would propell them back to the top
