WOW.
Randy “The Natural” Couture has been quoted as saying that there’s a “Steroid witch hunt” with him in the crosshairs. ONE DAY before UFC 74, Joe Rogan, the UFC’s color commentator, added fuel to this fire when he did a guest spot on ESPNEWS to promote the Pay-Per-View event by claiming that Couture had undergone “hormone replacement therapy” and applauded what modern science could do for older fighters.
The single biggest catastrophe that the UFC could face would be a steroid controversy surrounding one not only it’s World Heavyweight Champion, but one of it’s most popular and well-known fighters. A catastrophe that could spell not just the end of the MMA “revolution”, but the end of the UFC as we know it.

I realize that Rogan might have said this and it might have been taken out of context. However, Rogan says some stuff sometimes that are meant to ruffle some feathers and lead to controversy. I"ve said this numerous times that I believe 90% of fighters do steroids and just cycle in the right amount of time. The sun would come up tomorrow and the UFC would still be around. Barnett tested positive for steroids and the company moved on.

I think it might make some critics who think MMA is just a legalized street fight, suddenly think now its a legalized street fight in which everyone takes steroids. I don't think it will blow over, it will definitly raise some eyebrows on the nay-sayers of MMA, but it could definitly get worse then that.

It wouldn't even be a speed bump. It would be a tiny pebble in the road.

Yeah, I think its a little much to say that this'll be the end of the UFC. But yeah Randy Couture is probably the UFCs most popular fighter. People love this guy, and why not? He's 44 years old and beating up 20 year olds.
But yeah, all that would go away if this proves to be true. People wouldn't be that impressed anymore than Randy beats up these guys at his age, even though it is impressive - 'roids or not.
Not sure if I believe this or not. I mean, its not like I hang out with Randy or anything, I don't know what he does.
We'll just wait and see what's up.

i think you have overstated your post a bit. i have said many times that the ufc should test its own randomly to prevent fighters using roids or at least show that they are doing all they can. the ufc is so busy trying to make money NOW they dont really care if fighters are using roids. i agree that many fighters are using and i wish this form of cheating could be eliminated. i wish the ufc would show the guts to do the right thing and eliminate this problem. they are as of now making no effort in this area. they seem to just react when they are criticised instead of being proactive.

Yeah.. I caught this too, he mentioned it in response in how older sports stars still compete at a high level. He seemed nonchalant about accusing Randy and some others about something that is a big deal. I don't believe it and was disappointed Rogan's speculation.

I could see this being true, he's 44, he looks great(not like any 44 year old i've seen). There are alot of fighters who do roids, randy isn't above it, and if you look at some of the guys people have accused, randy looks alot more likely to be doing this then them. Cycling is the key, I think the UFC should try and get it so that can test mid training.

Cmill ...if even this did prove to be true, which i guarantee its not. It would not even be that big of a deal. All sports have major athletes who are caught for doing stupid stuff, and the sport goes on, as big as UFC is right now, people would not stop watching because one guy. By the way do u want the UFC to fail??

Lol I passed on info, I didn't write the article. I don't really care if the UFC fails, someone will take their place. How can you garentee it's not true? Are you with Randy every day? It doesn't surprise me however if this was about fedor there would be people jumping out of the rafters saying hell yeah he does do roids. I honestly believe that 90-95% of fighters do roids, and cycle. If they test positive they just get caught cycling improperly. There are reasons that I have in the past said that I don't believe Cro Cop doesn't do roids, and thats the Cop part of his name, there are also a few others I don't think do roids(most are in the UFC wow), but i'm not getting into that right now, I just thought some people would find this to be an interesting article.
