Renato “Babalu” Sobral, who was fined $25,000 and released from the UFC after refusing to break a chokehold on opponent David Heath at UFC 74, has signed with the California-Based Strikeforce organization.

i don't think this will have too much of an impact on the mma world. I mean don't get me wrong, babalu is world class, but i believe he is just another fighter passed his prime who hasn't done that well in the UFC against the big name guys. Strikeforce is however getting a lot of talent as the months go on but i still don't think of them as a contender to UFC

This is a good move in general. Although he may not be making as much money as he could in the UFC, Babalu definatly has a better shot at becoming the champ and this adds a big name to the Strikeforce roster.
Can't wait to see Babalu in Strikeforce.

It's sad to see a fighter past his prime take his frustrations out on a lesser fighter. I think Strike Force will loose some credibility signing him in the long run. However for the short term the sponsors will roll in and both Renato and Strike Force will make some decent coin of off this.

Just because he has two losses he's past his prime?
I don't know, I thought he looked pretty good against Jason Lambert until the fluke knockout, and of course his stellar performance against David Heath.

Renalto is going to own all the Strikeforce candidates within a matter of moments, he may as well just take out all the other misc belts too, like EliteXC, ICON ect....None of those places has the level of competition that he is used to. Bring him back!!!! War Babalu!!!

Ufc's loss Strikefroce's gain...with UFC 7's upsets over Liddel and Shogun I bet Dana's wishing he had another big name fighter in the 205 divison now. He thought that divsion was stacked and Babalu was expendable..time will tell

Im a babalu fan but would never call that a fluke ko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! come on dude seriously how was it a fluke? But yeah he was beating Lambert until the KO and erase the chuck fight as it was him just going mental, he aint past his prime, not even close, he is prolly better than ever and improving all the time, hope he wins these 3 fights he is prolly signed for and then gets the UFC call back

It's good that he got put on the Strikeforce roster, now his fans can see him in action again, and he can add more depth to the LHW division there.
