Wow, I am a little shocked at the imbalance between the yes and no answers in the poll vs the thread. lol
I for one do not like Diaz one bit. The only time I actually was hoping for him to win a fight was against Diego.
That being said, I will not ignore the fact that he is a more capable and exciting fighter than most out there. I do not like his stance on pot, but in all honesty I have to respect him for openly taking his lumps when he got caught.
Some may argue that in his position, he should not be condoning the use of illegal substances. However, I look at this differently for pot than steroids.
To me, the people that smoke pot will smoke it regardless of whether an athlete does it and that is because most people believe that pot has no performance enhancing effects (per se). I don't see someone thinking, hey that fighter is really talented/strong/ or whatever, and he smokes pot. That means I can be like that by smoking pot.
However, steroids and athletes seem to go more hand in hand. I do see people looking at the performance of said athlete and thinking they could perform like that if they took steroids.
With all that being said, I say there is a demand for Nick Diaz in the UFC. If the UFC wants to be the top org out there then they demand the best fighters in the world. Diaz is a top fighter right now.
In no way do I condone the use of any drug, but in all fairness, the UFC would be a lot smaller than it is now if you tossed every fighter that has ever used drugs.

Not really, not as much as before his failed drug test and suspension. But if he puts together a solid string of EXC fights he could probably get back to UFC if they wanted him back, but that might also partly depend on how Nate does his next couple fights.

Dislike him as a person and a fighter. If I want to see someone who's best attribute is tiring the guy out by letting him punch him in the face, i'll watch arturo gatti fight.
What?? Yeah I guess being a BJJ blackbelt isn't very good so he must have a horrible ground game.... Yeah he's only good at letting people punch him in the face....
Come on, give the guy some credit he's a great fighter he's got great ground skills, good boxing with great accuracy, and great cardio.
Lol yeah I know he's good at alot of things but his best attribute is taking punishment(tired gomi out by letting him use his face as a punching bag)

I Voted yes,but i would rather want him in EliteXC so he can help that organization grow...I really like EliteXC (Accept for Bill Goldberg, and Mauro for being so cheesy and perverted...."oh oh ohh and away we go!"..ha...
I really want EliteXC to grow because it would really make it better for us fans so we can have more shows with better fights especially now that Pride is done with.
From watching Gary Shaw over the years since im a huge boxing fan,I know he really takes care of his fighters and will do the best for Nick.

Ive noticed people tend to like the ultimate fighter guys. Its weird
Was Nick on The Ultimate Fighter? I think TUF guys help popularize the sport to newbies. That's why people like them so much. They don't know anything about the other fighters because they haven't been "familiarized" to them. Was Nick on TUF 1 or something. Anyway, he's a good fighter. Hopefully his brother will develop as well as he did.

I think the Diaz / Lawler fight should be required viewing.
The question was about "demand". And when I think about it, I think the sport is better off if there are both Randy Coutures and Nick Diazs. You've got the clean, mature, enormously successful fighter on the one hand, and the pot-smokin', F-bomb droppin' hot-headed bad ass on the other. So, as long as every fan is not the same...yes, there's a demand. You've got Europeans, Japanese, Brazilians, Canadians, Americans...there's room for everyone, and, despite the cliche, the diversity is wonderful.

Dana said they cut him from the ufc "cos he lost too many fights" but he WON his last 2 and before that had to fight Diego (which he barely lost) then Riggs (which he barely lost) then why they matched him up with sherk who was a bad fight for him, why do that?
He is such an exciting fighter, and so easy to market, Dana is stupid for letting him go, he always mocked pride officials for messing up but surely cutting a guy from the ufc who then beats the #1 LW in the world is embarrassing, Rogan LOVES Diaz and always bigged him up on commentary so that would be another clue that the casual fans who listen to Rogan would like to see Diaz back, especially now they have seen his brother
But Nick has somewhat burned his bridges with burning his blunts and being so outspoken about it and also how Dana treated the fighters
**EDIT** By the way imo its very unlikely Nick could cut all the way to 155, he made 163 ok but 155 is a touch too far so he would have to stay at 170 i think, great fights for him there tho! Anyone wanna see these? Diaz VS Karo 2 Diaz VS Koscheck Diaz VS Diego 2 Diaz VS Hughes Diaz VS Fitch
