UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson is nursing a hand injury and is unlikely to defend his title until 2008.

He most likely wouldn't have fought since then anyway. Since there's a lot of figuring out to do in the division.

the next title fight for the lw is gonna be an interesting setup.. obviously not ideal, but i think this would be the most likely possibility.. almost like a mini tournament of the top 6 in the division

ortiz
............ ortiz vs jackson
evans
.......................................... silva vs rampage
griffin
............griffin vs silva ......................................... rampage
jardine
.......................................... silva vs rampage
silva
............griffin vs silva
liddel

with the losses, we can have liddel vs jardine2, and evans vs alexander

obviously theres other combinations from the get go, and more combinations if these fights go the other way.. but i would be happy to pay to see these fights

Good, I think he deserves the break. Man trains hard, earns and defends his title. Get that holiday time in with the family and get too it next year. This will give the UFC time to figure out the mess in the LHW Div too.

Before this crap came out about his hand, Rampage said he wanted to take off six months anyways so he could do a reality show. A&E, MTV, and SPIKE are bidding for it. Before Shogun lost, I had a problem with him taking that much time off, especially since he just came to the UFC, but now, with everything screwed up like it it, I say go for it.
I thought Shogun would beat Forrest and get the next shot, and then Liddell would beat Jardine and fight Wandy and the winner of that fight get the next shot. We all see how that turned out.
