We will have a bad outcome if Silva wins regardless of retirement.

(1) He wins and sticks around, and muddles the division again (won't fight several of the top 10 guys at 185).

(2) He wins and retires making his last fight completely pointless. Would Weidman still be champion by default? Something like what's coming up for welterweight where two totally random dudes get to fight for the belt?

Please PLEASE let Weidman win.

dude do you really think that "just two totally random dudes get to fight" for the WW belt? are you kidding me? they should of just given Johny the belt. everyone knows who really won that fight.
on another note i think anderson already thinking about retirement is a bad sign! his head wasnt in the last fight, and somehow i feel its the same for this one.

Sure do. He retired with the belt still around his waist.

Who in the top 10 at MW are you insinuating?

2 top 10 Middleweights that Anderson Silva wouldn't fight is Machida and Jacare.
Anderson said he'd quit fighting before he would go up against either guy.

I'm not sure how Machida feels about the situation but Jacare also said he wouldn't fight Anderson either.
I think it was in October when I read an article that said Machida would never fight Anderson and then in November they said he would consider the fight. Who knows?

Souza said he would fight who ever the UFC wants but hopes its not Anderson in this one:

My thoughts exactly Web

I kind of thought Silva would retire soon regardless of this weekends outcome so I am not surprised at this news at all

One day he is saying he wants to fight 7-8 more fights in the UFC. Another day I might retire

Make up your fucking mind

I support whatever he does.

Knocking out Weidman and retiring with the belt would be an amazing end to his career.

Then he could go on to fight Roy Jones Junior in what might be the first boxing match I'd buy in 5 years or so.

Silva can't retire. He owes it to the UFC, the fans, and Weidman for a rubber match. Retirement is not an option

I'd bet that great chance just got a little greater.
