As debuts of heavily hyped MMA prospects go, they don’t get much worse than Aaron Pico.

The good news, though, is that the 20-year-old Bellator lightweight will have a chance to make up for it sooner than later.

Bellator President Scott Coker told ESPN today that Pico (0-1 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) has been tabbed to fight on the main card of Bellator 183, which takes place Sept. 23 at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., and airs on Spike. An opponent for Pico is still in the process of being finalized.

This kid has ALOT of talent you will see why so many fighters are high on pico.

I doubt he gets an opponent with any name value tho lol.

No matter who they are or the hype that surrounds them I think every fighter should have at least 5 fights before going to a big org (UFC, Bellator, OneFC, KSW, ACB). It's just better for them.

Pico has competed in wrestling, boxing, and pankration fights hes had alot of combat experience and in picos case Bellator picked him up because he was being scouted by other orgs as soon as his intentions of doing mma after olympic attempt was made.

I dont think he should have been on the ppv for his debut. He should have been opener on spike card.

But hey if he won we'd all be touting him lol mma is unforgiving but im still excited to see him fight again last fight was super short,im interested who they give him next?

I'm still interested for sure...don't get me wrong. As Luke Thomas would call it "promotional malpractice" is the story of his debut. Signed by Bellatrix sure and like you stated he should have been on the undercard...I find it hard to believe he was feeling the outside pressure during his debut. Let's see what we're saying about the kid in 3 years, hopefully his the next Michael Chandler or something.

Coker will also hit his opponent's knee with a lead pipe right before the walkouts.
