Justin Gaethje has a date and an opponent for his UFC debut.

The former WSOF lightweight champion has been scheduled to take on Michael Johnson in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale, which is set to take place on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Wow. Sick fight here. I think I'll take MJ by narrow decision. Problem is I don't have cable so I miss the WSOF events so I don't know Justin's pedigree other than on paper.

Tough debut for sure. Johnson has a ton of experience at this point in his career with a handful of big wins on his resume. An impressive win here would be huge for Gaethje. I like MJ's chances though tbh.

Im rollin with gaethje.....

Johnson is a great fighter but is inconsistent in his showings and has proven that he can be easily nudged into a brawl.

I think johnson could technically pick him apart but i think gaethje tags him in the pocket, urges him to bang in the pocket, and gaethje can beat johnson.

If Gaethje just blindly moves forward with no defense like he usually does, he is gonna get lit up by Johnson who is much faster than him with his hands and footwork wise on the feet. I remember thinking the same thing about the Poirier fight......can't believe MJ was an under dog in that one.

Anyways, this was one of the fights I suggested when I saw he signed so I'm glad they gave it to him instead of an instant title shot or Barboza who has fought the same style of pressure fighter too many times now, needs a change. Good match up.

Justin is used to being a shark in a small pond, he is going to get mauled by MJ.

This is the big test for Gaethje. Part of me wants to say that Johnson is going to show him in decisive fashion just what the UFC level is all about. Gaethje hasn't really faced anybody near the current UFC level. A few years ago he beat Guillard by split decision. That's not very impressive. However, with all of that being said, we truly don't know that Gaethje is not up to the task. He may surprise the doubters. It should be a good scrap either way. This very first fight for Gaethje determines his near future in the UFC. I'm glad he is finally in the big leagues though. I have been waiting awhile. The UFC weeds 'em out. We'll soon see what Justin Gaethje is all about.

Got Michael Johnson since Justin gets hit a lot and I don't see this going to the ground.
