The UFC's week of cutbacks ends with news that several fighters will no longer compete in the promotion.

MMAFighting.com has learned from sources that 13 fighters were recently released from their contracts. This comes just a few days after many from the front office, including several high-ranking officials, were let go under new ownership group WME-IMG.

I am sad to see McCrory released for the second time. He has been one of my favorites since his first fight in the UFC. I share some Filipino martial arts lineage with him. His trainer Kevin Seamen and my Sifu (Chinese for Teacher/Master) are good friends and both have trained extensively with their friend and legend Dan Inosanto. My system also has Chinese, Indonesian, Thai and Japanese elements. I am sure the Barncat will end up back in Bellator or maybe even WSOF.

Spencer is the one I'm sad to see go. He's a real testament to what separates the top level competition from the rest in the UFC, and honestly it isn't much. Looking at his record he could easily be 6-2 in the UFC, instead of 3-5, though Pyle earned that comeback KO.

I look forward to the day when they eliminate judges entirely from MMA and score every bout with fightmetric or something similar. Then maybe guys can stop getting screwed out of their careers by bad calls.

Franca. Tuf winner. Cut 2 fights later. Ouch

Sad to see McCrory go. They should have given him another fight.
