UFC president Dana White has promised that Conor McGregor will drop back down to featherweight and unify the title with Jose Aldo, the interim champ, next. McGregor, though, doesn't seem to be all that interested in an Aldo rematch.

McGregor defeated Aldo to win the UFC featherweight title by knockout in just 13 seconds at UFC 194 back in December. Aldo bounced back to defeat Frankie Edgar to win the interim title at UFC 200 last month.

McGregor was present at that bout, even standing up and watching much of the fight from that position while everyone was sitting down around him. But McGregor made it seem like Friday on a UFC 202 media conference call that he was looking toward a fresh fight — one against Frankie Edgar.

He wants to fight Frankie because he knows he won't beat Aldo again and also make the 145...

If he's not going to move back down to featherweight then he needs to vacate the belt. There is absolutely no point in having an interim champion simply because Conor refuses to defend the title.

Well said. If he's not going back, give it up, like he will his neck in the Diaz rematch.

He didn't say anything about the weight at all though...he said good for Aldo and I am going to fight Nate 3x...the only way he could fight Nate a 3rd time is if he wins this upcoming fight, then a 3rd would make sense as they would be 1-1...so basically said I am going to win this fight. He will be back to 145 or vacate, it won't be some horribly big deal as it be for him to fight some other greats in the nearby divisions (Cerrone, Condit, Barboza, RDA, etc...). Nate don't give a shit to fight him a 3rd time because he thinks he's winning too and that he'll end up being 2-0 in his favor. Nate also seems uninterested in returning to 155, last time he talked it was about money fights only.
That's my way of saying fu to the media for their bs.

I disagree with the idea that he's running from the little guys (Maybe Frankie a little) but that is some funny shit!

I won't hate on him but he needs to get back to his division and defend belt like you guys said or vacate.

Also he needs to beat Nate next week for a Trilogy to even happen.

I'm also not a fan of Trilogy's unless they make sense. This isn't the NBA finals dude.

Just to play devils advocate, he beat Holloway via decision, only two fights into the UFC. He beat Mendes on short notice, I mean, SHORT NOTICE. And starched Aldo in 13 seconds. So his record on paper cannot be argued. But, his pedigree is yet to be cemented in the UFC in my opinion. I just really don't like the fact that he isn't defending the belt @ 145, but at the end of the day I feel the blame should fall on the UFC for allowing him to do this. Frankly, he should vacate the belt. Never in UFC history has a champion won the belt and then fought 2x outside the division he/she holds the strap. Seriously. Strip him of his fucking title. Make him work in the field he chose. Feed him Cerrone, feed him Khabib, feed him any wrestler/BJJ specialist who will starch that fucking smug smile.

A 3rd fight would only be interesting if its fireworks, back and forth of course with a McGregor victory. He definitely would need to vacate if that happened. And Aldo is next in line if he goes back. When Diaz beats him again I think he'll be begging for Aldo again unless the embarrassment stopped him from fighting altogether. He can obviously make a lot of money in anything he does. He was just blessed with charisma. Even if he does bite off more then he can chew

Maia would be extremely tough and you know if they offer him GSP...whew that would be a big test, especially if they both won their upcoming fights...Jeezus! Murica!!

Sure the media sucks....especially the MMA media but don't you think that most of the BS is actually coming from McGregor himself? He has more BS than a herd of 2,000 pound bulls. Everything that comes out of his mouth is either arrogant, delusional, foolish, rotten, stupid, nonsensical etc I could go on forever. I can't wait till this guy is out of the picture....and to be honest, I don't think it will be that long before he's gone.
