Spike TV will celebrate New Year's Eve with an MMA mega-event featuring mixed martial arts worldwide legend Fedor Emelianenko.

Emanating from Tokyo, Japan, the event marks the debut of a new global MMA promotion run by former Pride President Nobuyuki Sakakibara.

Bellator will partner with Mr. Sakakibara on the MMA extravaganza and will have fighters from its roster participating. The event will be broadcast to Spike's 93 million homes in the United States.

Fedor's opponent and further details on the event will be announced at a later date.

"We are thrilled to join forces with Nobuyuki Sakakibara and our partner Bellator President Scott Coker to give MMA fans a big reason to celebrate this New Year's Eve - Fedor fighting FREE on Spike!" said Kevin Kay, Spike President.

I could definitely see that happening. I'm just hoping it's not a throwaway fight like Oli Thompson or Kimbo or someone of that nature.

That's a bit of a shame, probably the smart move though if fedor is thinking about protecting his legacy.

I do not want to see randy fight fedor now either. God please now...

I knew after all the rumors with him that he would end up signing with some promotion over there to fight Satoshi Ishii or some piece of crap...big surprise Fedor

People are talking like they aren't going to watch.

Give me a break, this is badass news. A huge MMA event on New Years is long overdue if you ask me . I am burnt out of Dana, Rousey, and McGregor

I do like the idea of the Tito fight but this is somewhat disappointing. I would have loved to see him fight someone like mir or Barnett or even aa again

Also something to think about is fedor said he wanted to fight in japan then the us.

This is only a 1fight deal its still possible for him to fight in japan then sign with ufc.

But also he could just sign with bellator........so i wouldn't go shitting on him quite yet bwahaha.

It could be a multi organizational momentum building trajectory. The move in the Japanese promotion is an unknown, is it just a fight, multiple fights, ownership? Either way, expectations need to be real, not copies of the past. Something good about the Japan fight is it should provide him with an opponent of reasonable calibre to judge where Fedor is after all this time off. Not some toss in against a guy that has been streaking to the top, a hater bait fight that doesn't make sense for someone who hasn't fought in three years. Since announcing Fedor was coming back, there have been plenty of good potential non-UFC fights projected so I'm looking forward to a classic MMA New Years!

Dana White is one of the biggest trolls there is. So it's always hilarious to me when Fedor trolls Dana. Sure as fans speculating about potential fights it sucks but to me it is worth it to see Dana get embarrassed.

Better luck next time Dana.

Man, 2015 has not been a great year for the UFC when it comes to perception and fighter management.

I am somewhat dissapointed. I was really hoping if Fedor was coming out of retirement it would be to fight in the UFC.
However, as mentioned above the NYE show is something I miss alot and to see it again with Fedor still at the helm will make me feel like it's the old days again.
