A welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit is being targeted to headline a December 5 UFC pay-per-view event in Calgary.

Multiple sources close to the fight confirmed the news with Bleacher Report.

Our sources also indicated that a top contender's bout between former champion Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley is being planned for the same event in case of a Lawler or Condit injury.

It can be real, and don't call him Shirley.

There really aren't any outstanding top contenders now.
This makes me wish Lombard or Nick diaz were still in the mix.

This should have been timed better. Woodley and Hendricks fighting for the next shot makes sense, but Condit is 2-3 in his last five. Granted one of those was an injury, but still.

And who would fight Lawler? Can't have Hendricks or even Woodley fight, I understand thou that Woodley could have gotta the shot since he beat Condit..but the only other person who was worthy of fight Lawler was prolly Lombard..if they were giving out undeserved title shot, then it def would have gone to Nick again LOL

I'd go ahead and give the shot to Stephen Thompson. He's on a five fight win streak and it's a great opportunity to capitalize on his popularity after his crazy KO over Ellenberger.

Neil Magny also deserves some recognition. He's quietly racked up seven wins and just needs a win over a top ten opponent.

Sort of happy the ufc will stray from the logical ranking based matchups to go give the fans the better fights. I don't think Hendricks deserves a title fight after his last two Ho hum affairs. The second Lawler fight was only good because Lawler made it good, Hendricks was content with cage control for the last 10 mins. I also didn't like him not wanting to fight Woodly bc he felt he was entitled a title shot.

Good to see the ufc not rewarding those kind of fighters & choices. I agree Condit isn't the most deserving fighter but I bet you he goes out there to win a fight via damage not points. I approve of the fight, Lawler vs Condit will be one for the history books.

Hendricks-Lawler 3 needs to happen. How that immediate rematch was not made after Hendricks was robbed is astounding. He did beat Matt Brown afterward as well. Kind of fucked up he has to fight Woodley to get to a title he should still hold. I Hope Hendricks wins, for no other reason, although I would like to see Woodley get his shot some day.

I think Lawler won both fights.
