The second UFC on FOX event of 2014 is slated for April 19, and the network-televised event has its first two fights.

Those UFC on FOX 11 bouts include heavyweights Travis Browne (15-1-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) vs. Fabricio Werdum (17-5-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in a surefire title eliminator, as well as former women’s bantamweight title challengers Miesha Tate (13-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) vs. Liz Carmouche (9-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC), the UFC today announced.

I'm surprised they didn't make Werdum/Browne the main event. Winner undoubtedly gets the next title shot. I wonder if DJ will end up headlining this card against the Lineker/Bagautinov or Sampo/Makovsky winner?

My reaction was DJ vs Lineker/Bagautinov winner as well

That said I also had to read the article twice. It seems the best way to get people to buy the next Heavyweight fight would be to give Wedrum/Browne exposure?
In a business sense surely it'd be a better outcome to put Wedrum and Browne headling a FOX card, promoting them on billboards and on the TV so that when the time does come and the winner has to fight Cain some less casual fans would recognize there names and maybe buy the PPV?
Putting DJ above them shifts the weight and exposure off of them.

I know they like to stack these FOX cards but IMO Wedrum/Browne for 5 rounds is a pretty solid main event and if it goes all 5, both men have gotten the experience they need.

DJ can headline a Fight Night, make all the ticket fans happy they get to see a title fight, still get people tuning in as it's a title fight, and keeps the fight night cards looking good.

The Browne/Werdum winner will end up with Cain for a Title shot in Mexico.

I'm glad Tate's getting a match against an opponent that is not a Title contender at the moment. Tate is still one of the best women Bantamweights but she's gotta get back in the win column. Perfect fight for her at this point.

I agree that DJ will get the winner of this fight.

I think that the Sampo/Makovsky winner will need one more win to improve to 3-0 before getting a Title shot.
I could see Pettis, providing he wins against Cacares getting Sampo/Makovsky winner for the next shot after Ali/Lineker.

Also if Pickett gets past McCall he could be only one win away too considering the history they already have. DJ could possibly have a nice amount of contenders here in the very near future.

Tate/Carmouche
I also agree that Werdum/Browne should be headliner and it would a nice change of pace from having DJ headline every other FOX card.
I'm gonna predict Pettis headlines this though, possibly against TJ Grant or Thomson if he beats Henderson

Tate-Carmouche better not touch the main card. Not an exciting match, in my opinion. Fight Pass prelim right there

Tate could easily lose this, Carmouche loves to pressure and is relentless. Could be a sprawl and brawl.

Werdum tastes the Hellbow. WAR BROWNE!!!!!
