That cut – the one changed the course of the fight and left Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva drenched in blood at this past weekend's UFC 146 event – wasn't as bad as it looked. "It wasn't really a big cut," Silva's manager, Alex Davis, told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). "It was right between the eyes. It's a very fleshy part. It bleeds a lot. He's a big guy, and his head is very well irrigated, so it was a blood bath. "But it only (needed) three stitches. It wasn't that bad, but it looked bad on TV." LINK

That makes the ratio: 1 pint= 1 stitch.
Now you can excuse while I play Slayer; Raining Blood.

it wasnt fight altering, unless it was altering an ass whooping into a vicious ass whooping.
Cain was on a mission.

Oh no! We must ban elbows!
Otherwise more fighters that get paid a lot of money to get punched in the face will suffer from stitches.

"The cut that changed the course of the fight" implies the fight was at some point going Big Foots direction.... that fight was as one sided as i've ever seen.

Yeah, I'd definitely have to agree on it being as one-sided as they come. The only fight in recent(ish) memory that is even anywhere close to being somewhat comparably one sided was Griffin vs Silva back at UFC 101.

Apparently you guys missed walloping Johnny Bedford dished out to Louis Gaundinot at TUF 14 Finale.

Exactly. It was the entire round of unanswered blows that did it, not a cut. If anything, the cut gave him a break while they checked it.

3 seemed like too little, and 13 seems like too much. But i guess a head that big doesn't just piece back together like humpty dumpty.

"One of the main reasons I got defeated was that. I couldn't see a thing, there was a lot of blood and my eyes were burning. I tried to defend myself and not get hit at, shaking my head to see if I could get rid of that blood, but there was no way around it. From that moment on my corner was my eyes."
I'm not sure there are many fighters with more excuses than Bigfoot. It seems like after every loss, it's was some variable other than his performance that led to his demise. He always seems to give back handed compliments after fights too. After the Cormier fight he said something to the effect of "Daniel is a great fighter, but I wasn't my best." It's always him losing and not the other guy winning. Can't stand that.
