UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones has quickly become one of the biggest superstars in the world's largest MMA promotion, and the UFC is going to capitalize on that popularity by branding its logo all over Jones and his team during UFC 145 fight-week events.

Some MMA pundits have been critical of the decision, suggesting the UFC is showing favoritism toward Jones with the move.

Jones' manager, Malki Kawa, insists that's simply not true. In fact, he believes Jones' opponent, Rashad Evans, likely could have earned the same deal should he have wanted.

Shame on them for capitalizing on an exciting, young, phenomenal fighter!

The bias is insanely obvious to me. But what do you expect? Hell, Dana White just said Ben Askren makes Jon Fitch look like Wanderlei. If he has no problem openly insulting one of the most successful fighters to ever enter the UFC (who is still on their payroll), nothing should come as a surprise.

I'm sure this has got to make the company stalwarts like the Iceman, GSP, Anderson, and Randy feel like complete crap.

I hope people who are complaining about this are also outraged about other sport stars being the face of a team and even the sport. Lebron, Pujols, Jeter, Crosby, ThaiBow, Manning, Shaq, that guy who is really good at curling in Canada, etc. This really is just another excuse for people to dislike Jones.

it said in the article that overeem was gonna wear the logo too, but who cares, how is being bias bad.. is jon jones getting cans??? NO, he has made once the deepest division in the ufc pretty much have no contenders. so what if they are capitalizing on guys, what are they suppose to, not promote their best fighters as the face of the UFC, that is how sports works, the owners promote their stars.. everyone likes an underdog story but history shows the best rating are when the top dogs square off, ppl want to the best of the best, hence why every sport's biggest earners happen to be the guys who are the best as well as the top jersey sales. no one goes to a Miami het game to see mario chambers they go to see the big 3. take the colts, who were pretty blackouted on tv last season on tv, I wonder y that happened... no Payton Manning. it would be another story if they were trying to pad these guys stats, but they are not. sports thrive on stars

This isn't even a big deal.

Everyone has their time in the limelight

Plus he happens to be a UFC champ

Chuck Liddel got the same treatment when he was on top. I don't see the big deal.

It seems redundant. Jon Jones comes out under the UFC banner in the UFC ring sponsering... UFC? It would be like a NASCAR car covered in NASCAR logos. We already kknow Jones is a UFC fighter, hes fighting in the UFC. Seems to me like a waste of money for hte UFC. Advertisemenst is to get people aware of your product. I dont think there is anyone in that arena watching the fights that sees the UFC logo on Jon Jones and says: "Hey UFC! Im gonna have to check that out sometimes."

Everyone knows all sports are driven by celebrity. But comparing Jon Jones to Peyton Manning, MJ, Shaq, whoever, is off the mark IMO. The NBA wasn't exclusively sponsoring the Bulls in the playoffs against the Knicks. And no one went to a Colts game in 2011 because they were 2-14. I'm sure if they fielded a 10-6 team, people would have gone to see them, Manning or not.

This isn't an excuse to hate on Jones, and I doubt anyone will contest the fact that he has worked for everything he has gotten from this sport. This is simply the kind of bias that is prevalent and completely transparent with the UFC / Dana White. If the UFC sponsored Brad Pickett over Damacio Page I would be writing the same post.

shame on the ufc for trying to market itself through one of it's most recognizable & dominant fighters.

they should be sponsoring lesser known, less talented fighters instead

[/sarcasm]
