Here's an interesting video making the rounds following the UFC 140: "Jones vs. Machida" pay-per-view event last night (Dec. 10, 2011) in Toronto.

In it, Greg Jackson, lead trainer and cornerman for Jon Jones, tells his fighter to go check on his fallen foe, Lyoto Machida, after Jones choked him unconscious in the main event. What makes it interesting, though, is that Jackson tells him to do this to "get some fans."

I did think at the time there was no need to just drop him like like. Jones isn't as righteous as he makes out to be.

Definitely a "stirring the pot" headline

He clearly said "Go check on him. go check on Lyoto. Get in his pants."

I see nothing wrong here.

This is hilarious and totally justifies my theory about Jones.

I always thought of Jones like Tom Brady. In "official" pre-planned interviews he just about always says all the right things and to many people he sounds very humble. People who read between the lines more find something wrong with his interviews but can't quite put their finger on it.

Then you see all these comments that are made in less planned situations and he seems like a cocky ___.

How do you reconcile these facts?

Jones isn't humble, but he's well coached. He's got guys advising him on Public Relations.

If he's humble or not really doesn't matter, and is much to do about nothing lol. Dana said it best "If you could kick guys ass's like this guy you couldn't help but be a little cocky to"

He is neither humble or overly cocky but it doesn't matter when your building the career he is

the only thing that made me like him a little less is when joe rogan asked him did you he was out and jones said" yea i knew" yet he still was applying the choke.. I understand you wait for the ref but if u who u just choked a guy out cold why keep holding on the choke??? either way another dominant performance by jones

I have no doubt that Jones acted like this (since people have confirmed it), but that does not mean that he is not typically a humble guy. We need to remember something. Jones is still a young kid. I think most of us remember that we did not make the best choices when we were his age. Give him some time to mature. And yeah that kid is amazing.

In case anyone was wondering Machida is my favorite fighter.

Thats you opinion.

It matters to some people who want to keep the "martial arts" in "Mixed Martial Arts."

Otherwise we should just start saying "ultimate fighting" or "cage fighting" or why not "human cockfighting"?

Take out the honor thats always been a part of this sport and thats what you have.

for some reason i feel like the age card is played too much when it comes to the younger athletes. so what if you are young aka early 20s, you are considered an independent adult so why does that excuse you for acting like a dick (not saying jones was but just in general). being a top class athlete comes with responsibilities even if they like it or not. no its not fair but sports are so apart of culture that they are held in higher standards. it does sux cause i know if i were ever to get to that leave it would be hard to have to be all that stuff when i would rather just do whatever i want

This just looks bad. Anyone who needs to be told to go check on another person that's unconscious (to get fans, great motive) probably doesn't care in the first place. But then, I wouldn't expect anything less from someone who has a bible verse tattooed on their chest and yet has a kid out of wedlock

To me, Jones falls into the UFC "brand" guys who are starting to be created. Guys who look to say all the right things and do all the right things to build endorsements and popularity. While there's nothing wrong with that, they are clearly devoid of any real personality and don't get the same sense of being a true "fighter" from them. GSP would fall in this category.
