So I dont' think their has been a 2012 thread made yet. Suppose to be released January 3rd as of now (though I would suspect their will be one delay).

Here's what we've got so far.

2012 facts

1.Probably the biggest change,and one i've been screaming for since 09 is Pride mode. Thank god. Rumor has it Rutten and Quadros will do commentary for the Pride fights (crossing fingers for this)

2. Brand new submission system. YES!!!!YES!!!YES!!! I hated the system implimented in the last 2 installments and think any change in the submission system will be for the better.

3.over 150 fighters including feather and Bantam weight.

4. New controller layouts. Seems akin to what EA did with MMA. You have classic and simplified.


Overall i'm excited for the third installment and glad THQ set 2011 out. This hopefully,will be the UFC game we've really been waiting for.

I am glad for the change in the submission system. I understand why they got rid of the button pounding since you could use a turbo controller to cheat but I sucked at the "rotate the stick" system so I went from being a kick ass submission specialist that could beat almost anyone who was not cheating in the first game to not being able to submit anyone or defend a submission worth a **** in the second.

I just want the knockouts to be more realistic. Seems like almost 90% of matches end by second round knockout, and that is just lame. Guys like Edgar, Fitch, and Maia should have little to no knockout power.

I'm hoping for that as well. I'm thinking,or at least wishing that THQ expands upon what EA started sowing the seeds for in flash KO's based off well timed counter attacks on the exception that guys with relativly low KO power are also represented this way in the game. Playing with each fighter should be a learning process in its own and not one template that is slightly altered for all the fighters.
Granted 2010 is somewhat like this but not to the degree it should be.
At any rate i'm glad THQ seems to be making pretty much an overhaul of the whole thing and not simply whoring it out like they have their Smackdown games.

I'm so already freaking out for this game. Just hope it delivers.

Every time a new UFC game comes out the game overall improves and is much better than the last one. Hopefully that is true with this installment and if they do have a pride mode how could you go wrong with that. And the submission style sucked in the 2010 game glad they are improving that.

I can never get a submission win. Even if I fight a guy with the lowest sub defense.

But yet, I can get subbed quick in career mode.

Sounds like some good changes.

I've never really played the game that much, but I just happened to be playing it this past weekend against my little 6-year old nephew. I was using the "press random buttons" method and it seemed to be working pretty well for me (I guess I was playing a 6 year old). Anyway, he was Danzig and I was Diego. Since I had no clue how to do submissions or any type of finishes, I was well on my way to a UD. Then all of the sudden in the 3rd round with literally 5 seconds left while I was on top (in half-guard) just cruising to my easy UD, he throws up a Kimura (using the same random button method, I presume) and submits me. WTF?!?! lol Come on.... third round, I'm in half guard, there's 5 seconds left and he gets a kimura?!?!

Excited to see the new game!

I hope they fix the way they handle the difficulty levels.

One of the most frustrating parts of that game was the inconsistent quality of the computer opponent. I'd be cruising along on Experienced or Expert and then get to my first PPV and got absolutely dominated, I'd fight the same guy 2 fights later and now he sucks and I can have my way with him.

Its like there are specific fights in career mode where no matter what difficulty you selected, it will make your opponent an Expert. Same thing with title mode, no matter what difficulty you choose, the title fight will be significantly harder than the fights leading to it.

Its pretty easy to tell when the AI is boosted too, It makes transitions on the ground pretty much impossible and your opponent will be a sway master that dodges and counters pretty much any shot you throw.

The part that pissed me off the most about the first two games is the health drains too fast making a fight that goes to a decision nearly impossible without completely running from ur opponent to make the fight go all three rounds.

apparently the new submission system involves a cat and mouse style mini game with the fighters submission offense and defense dictating how fast you move within the minigame

I agree, It fustrated me for a long time. I tried career mode once and lost to Shogun 3 times. I had a record of something ridiculous like 22-3. All first round wins. The difficulty seemed literally impossible to win, you threw a strike he would counter it, takedown immediate sprawl, on the ground if he tried a sub it'd automatically finish the fight.

I thought at first it was adaptive gameplay, like they picked up how you like to fight and take you out of that zone... But no, i rarely ever tried clinch strikes and yet he always took me down. I was able to win in the end back pedalling waiting to counter strike with a head kick landed about 40 to get a flash KO.

But I will agree, they need to even it up and they really could improve the ground game if they tried

The second one was awesome that's the one I play. I loved the clinching against the cage. I hope the sub system isn't like the ones on EA, majorly gay
