It wasn't all that long ago that Urijah Faber and Miguel Torres were the unquestioned kingpins of the under 145lb MMA world. Faber was the WEC featherweight champ from 2006 to late 2008. Torres was the WEC bantamweight champ from February 2008 to August 2009 and was a staple of top 10 pound-for-pound lists.
Now both men are coming off losses in the UFC's bantamweight division. Faber lost a unanimous decision to champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 132 and Torres dropped a decision to Demetrious Johnson at UFC 130.

I have been hoping for this fight since Urijah made the drop to 135. This would be fireworks for sure. Two of the best in the game going at it, looking to reclaim their former glory.... I would like to see this one either headline or co-main a Versus or Fight Night card.

I think Torres still has a lot of potential, but i think Mighty Mouse vs Uriah and Torres vs Bowels part 2 would be better. I would like to see this fight of course... but if Torres can't beat those guys he lost to, beating one of the 2 best 35'rs is a long shot. Faber vs Bowels if not Faber Mighty Mouse, Faber vs team Alpha fighters would be good, but wont happen prolly.

How many of us have had this fight on our mind? I know I've been wanting this fight to go down. Good matchup from standup and ground prospective. I'd have to go with Faber by split

I think it would have been cooler to do back when there was still the WEC and both were still on top.

On paper, this should be an easy fight for Faber. Faber should be able to take Torres to the ground with ease.
However when a fighter loses his edge, he becomes less focus and more fearful which is what we have been seeing from Faber. I still see a winning performance from Faber with his athleticism.

Mighty Mouse- Faber would be interesting. They have very similar styles. I give Faber the nod should that come to pass.
Torres-Bowles 2 would be good as well. I am sure Torres wants that one back. And now that he is with Tri-Star and fighting smarter, I could see him finishing Bowles and not rushing in and getting KO'ed.
But back to Torres-Faber... I feel Torres has better striking and BJJ, but Faber could always smother Torres and pound him out, Joe B style...

I'd like to see this as a co-main on a Fight Night. Torres needs to be introduced to the mainstream audience, and a fight with Faber could push him in the right direction. Don't see how this fight could be boring, even if Torres decides to fight smart.

Personally, I think Torres' time is done. I'm pretty sure that he's already seen the peak of his career and it's only downhill from here.

This is a terrible match up for torres. He's better on the feet and better on the ground but Uraih is stronger, more athletic, and a better wrestler. This has UD for Uriah written all over it. Most likely Uriah would spend the whole time on the ground defending submissions, but since MMA judges know nothing about MMA, he'd get the decision.

Torres is not done. He just beat mighty mouse who is the number one contender even though the judges didnt give him the win.

I gave you props for this and hit enter by accident before I could explain why. I've been waiting for this match up too. Two very contrasting styles that should ultimately produce some wicked fireworks. I hope the ufc makes this match, it makes a lot of sense at this point and can easily be put on any main card.
