Nate Marquardt was cut from the UFC after the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission refused to license him to fight Rick Story in what was to have been the headliner at UFC on Versus 4.
UFC President Dana White spoke to Ariel Helwani and Stephan Bonnar on the Versus post UFC Live 4 show and he addressed the Nate Marquardt situation:

Can anyone please elaborate? Im so confused. I immediately thought he must have failed his pre-fight drug screening and that's why he got cut. But the AC said they were aware of his "issue" for 6 weeks and he still didnt fix the problem? I am just confused on WTF exactly went down and what he did to get these extreme consequences. It had to have been really really bad.

I won't speculate.... BUT its pretty funny to read the other people speculating on the comment beneath the story. There are some real gems of a conspiracy.

Legally it's up to Marquardt to release the information. He said he's going to do so tomorrow so I'll post whenever it happens.

My understanding is that Pennsylvania law prohibits the release of this info. because of Doctor/Patient relationships and that the UFC is also covered under this because they were in a privileged position of knowing the doctor/patient info.
So Dana can't say why he failed without getting the crap sued out of him by Marquardt.
It's Marquardt's medical records, and Marquardt alone has the right to share them or not.
