WEC featherweight Champion Jose Aldo revealed to TATAME that he has been offered a fight against Kenny Florian, in which he’d move up to fight Kenny Florian, in December.
According to the fighter, his managers declined the bout. “They made the proposal. I wanna fight, it can be at WEC or in the UFC”, he told TATAME.
With the negative, Aldo will face Mark Hominick in January, while Kenny Florian fights Evan Duham at UFC 126.

Makes more sense IMO for him to solidify himself with 1 or 2 more wins in his division. Guy is young as hell. He's got time to move up.

I should probably move this. I read something on Twitter a little bit ago stating that the fight was not offered to Aldo.

Wow that would have been an awesome fight. He needs to test his ground game before he goes to the UFC with all of the wrestlers in that weight class.

Why take the chance of moving up and ruining what he currently has? It's not like he's cleaned out his division, and he hasn't been champion for long. Let him get in 2-3 more wins then worry about moving up. Look at his opponent, Manny, who didn't do too well in LW but when he moved to the WEC he was wrecking people up until Aldo. Not everyone can be Anderson Silva, just because your dominating in your own weight doesn't always mean you can move up and do the same.
With that being said, I do think Aldo would wreck Florian. Don't be surprised to see Florian calling out Aldo accusing him of being scared. I honestly think Aldo turning away the chance was a blessing in disquise for Florian. If Aldo would have fought him, Florian wouldn't be able to stand for three weeks.

I'd actually be completely surprised.

Yeah, I agree. I just don't see Kenny calling out anyone in that manner. Plus, Kenny is going to have his hands full with Dunham. I'm pretty sure that is all Kenny is thinking about right now.

I agree that it was probably Aldo's management that turned down the fight, if in fact it was offered. I agree with fastknockout; Aldo should defend his belt a few more times in the WEC before stepping foot in the UFC. If people are comparing him to Anderson Silva, I do wonder how he would fair in a lightweight division filled with wrestlers that could control him like Chael did to Silva.

I was reading about this on a different website, and can't help but think when I read it that people are acting like Aldo was trying to duck Florian... Which I don't think is the case at all... I mean no one would question Shogun declining a fight with, say, Carwin... Same goes for Edgar declining a fight against Alves or something... Just doesn't make sense for either fighter, especially since Aldo is so young and has a lot of time to think about moving up, no reason to even contemplate it now
