A matchup between two of the brightest prospects in the UFC's light heavyweight division appears likely for early 2011. A long-discussed contest between "The Ultimate Fighter 8" winner Ryan Bader and Jon Jones appears likely for the yet-unannounced UFC 127, which will probably be February 5 in Las Vegas and headlined by Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort. Jones' agent says he was recently hoping for a January 1 booking for his fighter, but that appears unlikely.

Jon Jones takes this. His long frame will keep Bader at bay if he gets taken down and his unorthodox striking will have Bader completely baffled IMO

I think Bader can get TD's but for right now I am stumped on this match up.

I would be surprised if Bader made it out of Rd 1. Even though he's young, I think Jones would beat anyone in the LHW division.

Bader better pray his right hand finds the mark because that's about the only out I can see for him right now.

That being said I don't see Jones having as much ease taking Bader down as he's had with other opponents, but I suppose the same goes for Bader, too. Two great wrestlers will more than likely negate each other and therefore Bader's big right hand is going to have to come through for him in this one.

Stupid fight Bader has nothing for Jones. Dumb to derail a prospect to push another.

I'm intrigued by the match up but I agree with you. Not sure why the UFC would have these two rising stars fight. Like the post before stated, I think Bader might have a problem with Jon's length on the feet and ground. I don't think Jon will just steamroll through Bader though. Jones has to worry about the big right from Bader, as well as getting taken down. Would love to see a big knee, ala Spencer Fisher/Wiman, from Jones.

We get to see Jon Jones takedown defense tested, which is a plus. His rangy frame may hurt him if it become a takedown battle.

All in all though, Bader has barely made it through his last 2 fights and Jon Jones has obliterated his last 2 fights. I think we all know who the better fighter is.

Jones is scary. He really has been on a terror streak destroying everyone in his path. Im looking for him to do the same to Bader. too bad for Bader but it'll be just minor setback for him. I like both fighters and they both have a ton of potential but Jones is the real deal and i see him winning by KO in the 1st.

Jones defended against Jake Obrien, who has a good double leg take down.

Jones will blow through him. This is a fun fight to have but dumb from a business perspective.

Both guys are relatively untested (compared to former champs and vets) so one beating the other doesn't prove much. In other words, one or the other might not be as good as we think. Also, you're going to derail one of your rising stars.

Forrest Griffin or Rampage would be a better match-up for either.

If so many of you hate this fight but also think Jones wins easily what sense does it make to baby Bader so he can keep his shiny record?
