So says the man who really gave Kimbo his big-time bread, former EliteXC head Gary Shaw-who already has hopes-and ideas-for Slice. "I think the UFC made a huge mistake. Once again Dana's ego has gotten in the way. I think Kimbo Slice could be a draw wherever he goes around the world. I think they matched him up wrong. I would have put him in against just stand-up fighters. I would have built to a pay-per-view with James Toney. My way of doing business is obviously different than Dana's and the UFC. I don't knock them -- they got a great product and make a ton of money so God bless them, but I sure wouldn't have promoted Kimbo Slice like they did and I hope Kimbo comes around and gets in a boxing ring with me."

I hate this man so much it's hard to even comment on his idiotic statements.

What's next? Rosie O'Donnell giving weight loss tips?

LMAO against "Just Stand Up Fighters"

Ummmmmmmm....................... I'm pretty sure Kimbo got his ass handed to him on the feet by Mitrione who isn't exactly considered an elite stand up fighter. I'm also pretty sure Houston Alexander made his money fighting on the feet, too.

Look if Gary Shaw wants to be in the business of making entertaining fights with no regard for showcasing the world's best then by all means he can continue on his current path saying stuff like this.

And that is why EliteXC failed. Sure Kimbo is a draw but that doesnt make him a good fighter, just a name. Build a ppv around kimbo the street fighter with little exp and james toney with no mma exp.

UFC is win or go home. Kimbo didnt look impressive against houston or meathead so why keep him. Dont think dana is just going to throw cans at him like someone else did. Even if kimbo was matched against just stand up guys dont think he would fare much better.

Not this again. UFC does a good job of making legitimate mma fighters the core of its push. Having Kimbo stay around quickly makes its product seem less legit. I hope they do the same thing with Toney.

From a strickly financial point of view Shaw makes since. However, The UFC,unlike Elite XC doesn't have to put all their eggs in one basket.

I'm sure Dana White is going to give a lot of thought and consideration to Mr. Shaw's statements.

I know I would take advice from someone who failed at doing the exact same thing that I'm REALLY successful at.

Shaw might be right. It was clear from day one that Dana was never going to give Kimbo a real chance, TUF or no TUF, he was going to be gone after his first loss. Had Kimbo been given a couple more fights he probably would've been much better.

I thought they gave Kimbo two winnable fights. After losing to Mitrione it seemed pretty clear to me that he just didn't have what it was going to take to make a run to the top. He's a likeable character, and he gave it a good shot, but the UFC has been dropping guys pretty quick these days, so Kimbo didn't really come as a shock.

Ya this is pretty laughable. I think Shaw made a huge mistake by keeping Kimbo and pushing him like they did. The guy isn't a world class fighter standing or on the ground. His knees are so shot that Mitrione's first pushing leg kick almost put him out of the fight. Kimbo shouldn't have been in the UFC in the first place. He was given a second chance after he lost on the TUF show, more than generous enough.

Seems like a nice guy but that doesn't mean there's a spot for him in the UFC.

It's hilarious that Shaw thinks he can give Dana advice....

So, let me get this straight, Shaw wants to pit s stand up street fighter with a man who made a living destroying people with his hands? He wonders why his product failed. Oh, Gary, I have a quick question for you as well. Wasn't your brand under investigation because the brass supposedly asked Seth Petruzelli to stand up with Kimbo? How'd that go for you?
