One of the best fighters in the history of MMA has officially retired. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, a former Pride and interim UFC heavyweight champion, will hang up the gloves and move onto a job with the promotion that he competed in for the last eight years.

Sad to see, but it's for the best. He'll always be one of my favourites.

Shocked he lasted this long tbh. I remember watching a documentary about him leading up to his fight with Mirko. They followed him around for weeks. His team-mates had to drag him out of bed and force him to train. He moved around like an old man until he got his "blood flowing"

He was supposed to die when he was a kid, somehow he survived and went on to become the #1 fighter in the world, then even after his decline he lasted another 10 years in the sport, at the highest level. Truly amazing.

Nog is the definition of perseverance and heart. A true warrior.

Glad to see UFC is helping him out with a job.
