Alexander Gustafsson wants his title shot back.

"The Mauler" was forced to surrender his rematch against Jon Jones after a knee injury sent him under the knife (details). In his absence, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) promoted Daniel Cormier to No. 1 contender (with great results), but now "Bones" is hurt and on the sidelines until 2015.

And that's when "The Mauler" will be ready to make his return (via Facebook):

I just heard the news that Jones is injured and the fight is rescheduled to January 3???? Until then, I will be more than ready, it was MY fight to begin with and I WANT the fight as the number 1 contender. End of story!!
I think Cormier might have something to say about that.

I'll admit, originally I wanted Gus to have his rematch before Cormier, but now I have to go with Daniel. Either way, whoever it is, I hope they take the belt and that Jones does not get an automatic rematch.

Ortiz has definitely earned it. Plus it makes the most sense right now so how could you not

Plus if you've heard at least some of his many recent (and dare I say, fantastic) interviews, he is finally at 100%.

I agree. He holds a win over a current bellator champion. Something both Cormier and gus don't. So let's face it Tito is BACK!!!!!

I some how got the feeling that Tito would be a favorite in this poll.

I'll make sure Dana gets the results.

I would do

Jones vs gus
Evans vs Cormier

If Jones pulls out

Gus vs Cormier for interim title

I'd rather see the Gus rematch as I think it would be the much more epic fight.

Cormier vs Jones just screams Rampage/Rashad or Kos/Daley. Cormier will wrestle like in all his other fights no matter what.

But if Tito is available then hell yeah! I mean he beat the middleweight Fedor

Dc vs Jones, ain't even a question.

It's the biggest fight in mma, nothing else holds a candle to it today. If you don't use that heat as soon as you can, it is a mistake.

Meh, I see Gustafsson/Jones 2 being the biggest fight in MMA today. The first fight was so close and Gustafsson has earned his right for a rematch.

Give 'The Mauler' his title shot and let Cormier fight someone else sometime next month.

I'm not a mind reader, but it wouldn't shock me to see the card changed. It's Dana, who knows wtf he will do at this point.

Tito Ortiz is the only logical choice here.

However, as a distant second I'd go with Cormier still. I didn't particularly care for Jones/Gus 1 so a sequel doesn't do anything for me. Also, the match with Cormier was probably my most anticipated fight.

After all the drama between Jones and DC? No way is Gus going to get the shot against Jones.

Chael Sonnen...again. Tito is a very close second.
